‘Halloween Kills’ Will See the Return of Nurse Marion!

Published

It’s all in the family with the forthcoming Halloween Kills, which is bringing back several big names from John Carpenter’s seminal 1978 slasher.

The latest addition to the cast is Nancy Stephens, who portrayed Nurse Marion Chambers in the original film, reports HalloweenMovies. Interestingly, as the site notes, she also appeared in the 1981 follow-ups Halloween II and 1998’s Halloween H20: 20 Years Later. Here, she begins a new timeline alongside Jamie Lee Curtis‘ Laurie Strode and Kyle Richards‘ Lindsey Wallace, with Anthony Michael Hall taking over the role of Tommy Doyle and Robert Longstreet as Lonnie Elam.

As Fandom recalls, Nurse Marion played an intricate role in the first film: “Marion Chambers was a nurse employed at Smith’s Grove Sanitarium in Warren County, Illinois during the 1970s. On October 30, 1978, she was driving back to the hospital with her colleague, psychiatrist Doctor Sam Loomis. A dangerous, homicidal patient named Michael Myers broke out of the hospital and accosted Marion in her car. She managed to get out of the vehicle, but Myers stole the car and began driving toward the town of Haddonfield.”

David Gordon Green co-wrote the Halloween Kills script with Danny McBride and Scott Teems, and he will be returning to direct. He’ll also be directing 2021’s Halloween Ends.

Halloween Kills will arrive in theaters on October 16, 2020.

In addition to Leigh Whannell’s upcoming Universal Monsters movie Wolf Man, Julia Garner (The Royal Hotel) has also joined the cast of Weapons, THR has announced tonight.

Weapons is the new horror movie from New Line Cinema and director Zach Cregger (Barbarian), with Julia Garner joining the previously announced Josh Brolin (Dune 2).

The upcoming Weapons is from writer/director Zach Cregger, who will also produce alongside his Barbarian producing team: Roy Lee of Vertigo and J.D. Lifshitz and Raphael Margules of BoulderLight Pictures. Vertigo’s Miri Yoon also produces.

The Hollywood Reporter teases, “Plot details for Weapons are being kept holstered but it is described as a multi and inter-related story horror epic that tonally is in the vein of Magnolia, the 1999 actor-crammed showcase from filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson.”

Cregger was a founding member and writer for the New York comedy troupe “The Whitest Kids U’Know,” which he started while attending The School of Visual Arts. The award-winning group’s self-titled sketch comedy show ran for five seasons on IFC-TV and Fuse. He was also a series regular on Jimmy Fallon’s NBC series “Guys with Kids” and the TBS hit series “Wrecked,” and was featured in a recurring role on the NBC series “About a Boy.”

Weapons will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures.
