‘Justice League’: Jared Leto’s Joker Wears a Crown of Thorns in New Shot from the Snyder Cut

We’ve got another fresh new look at Jared Leto‘s Joker from the upcoming “Snyder Cut” of Justice League, which will feature brand new scenes shot for the movie just last year that bring the character from Suicide Squad into the mix. Only he’s got a much different look this time around, looking more like Eric Draven than the Joker we met in David Ayer’s movie.

The image once again comes courtesy of Vanity Fair today, part of an article that goes in-depth into the “Snyder Cut” and its long journey to the screen. Be sure to head over there to give that a read if you’re interested, and check out the Christ-like new image of Joker below.

Vanity Fair had recently detailed in a previous article, “(Spoiler warning) Joker appears in the new film during a sequence set on a ruined Earth after the alien tyrant Darkseid invades and decimates the planet. It’s a dream sequence, a psychic vision, experienced by Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne that reveals what will happen if the superheroes fail to stop the onslaught. Joker is sort of the Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come, supplying motivation through terror.”

Speaking about the theatrical cut of the movie in the new piece, an anonymous WB executive tells VF: “When we got to see what Joss [Whedon] actually did, it was stupefying. The robber on the rooftop—so goofy and awful. The Russian family—so useless and pointless. Everyone knew it. It was so awkward because nobody wanted to admit what a piece of shit it was.”

As for the long-awaited “Snyder Cut,” the new Vanity Fair article promises, among several other things, a reshot ending with “a hero cameo that will blow hard-core fans’ minds.”

Zack Snyder‘s director’s cut is coming exclusively to HBO Max on March 18.

The “Snyder Cut” is said to run a whopping 4-hours long, packed with previously shot footage from Zack Snyder’s version of Justice League that we’ve never seen, along with 4 or 5 minutes of brand new footage that Snyder began shooting just last year.

In addition to Leigh Whannell’s upcoming Universal Monsters movie Wolf Man, Julia Garner (The Royal Hotel) has also joined the cast of Weapons, THR has announced tonight.

Weapons is the new horror movie from New Line Cinema and director Zach Cregger (Barbarian), with Julia Garner joining the previously announced Josh Brolin (Dune 2).

The upcoming Weapons is from writer/director Zach Cregger, who will also produce alongside his Barbarian producing team: Roy Lee of Vertigo and J.D. Lifshitz and Raphael Margules of BoulderLight Pictures. Vertigo’s Miri Yoon also produces.

The Hollywood Reporter teases, “Plot details for Weapons are being kept holstered but it is described as a multi and inter-related story horror epic that tonally is in the vein of Magnolia, the 1999 actor-crammed showcase from filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson.”

Cregger was a founding member and writer for the New York comedy troupe “The Whitest Kids U’Know,” which he started while attending The School of Visual Arts. The award-winning group’s self-titled sketch comedy show ran for five seasons on IFC-TV and Fuse. He was also a series regular on Jimmy Fallon’s NBC series “Guys with Kids” and the TBS hit series “Wrecked,” and was featured in a recurring role on the NBC series “About a Boy.”

Weapons will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures.
