Will Screen Gems Move ‘Resident Evil’ To 2015?

The fifth Resident Evil, Screen Gems’ 2012 Resident Evil: Retribution, opened the door for a sixth film.

Officially announced already with Paul W.S. Anderson returning to direct, and Milla Jovovich once again attached to star as Alice, the studio slated it for release on September 12, 2014.

Even though a studio can pump out a feature in less than six months, that date is looking less and less likely. Even Jovovich seems to think we won’t be seeing Resident Evil 6 until 2015.

@REuniceJovovich 2015 i would imagine,” Jovovich answered a fan via Twitter.

Either way, there’s a plethora of “White House” attack movies hitting theaters. By 2015, the conceit that the infected have taken over the President’s home may be trite…

[Random Cool] Thrift Store Paintings Get Monster Upgrades!

Bloody’s Adam Dodd sent me over to Twisted Sifter, a site who caught wind of the coolest art series I’ve seen all year.

Asks the site, “Have you ever been to a thrift store (think Goodwill or Salvation Army) and noticed that they usually carry a small selection of landscape paintings? Artists Chris McMahon and Thryza Segal decided to inject a little fun into these discarded works and give them a second life by adding monsters to the scenic landscapes.

The trick is to match the paint originally used (e.g., acrylic or oil) and try to blend the monsters into the original scene as if they were always there. It can be a challenge if the original is too textured or old but the results (below) speak for themselves.”

Check out some of the insanely cool works of art below, some of which are available for purchase.. Which is your favorite? I’d hang these in my basement (if I had one). READ MORE

Commence The Apocalypse With This Gory And Amazing ‘V/H/S/2′ Clip!!!

V/H/S/2 hit VOD last week and this clip is one of the reasons everyone is talking about it. You can find the iTunes and Apple TV link here. Other outlets carrying it should also include Amazon (link link here), AT&T UVerse, Charter, Comcast, Cox, Google Play, Playstation 3, Sudden Link, Time Warner Cable, Verizon Fios, VUDU and Xbox Zune. There’s also a theatrical rollout set for July 12th.

The clip below (via Machinima) is from the Gareth Evans and Timo Tjahjanto segment – “Safe Haven” – and I can’t help but grin with delight whenever I see it. What follows these events is “off the hook” as the kids might say.

In the film directed by Simon Barrett, Adam Wingard, Gareth Evans, Eduardo Sanchez, Gregg Hale, Jason Eisener and Timo Tjahjanto, “Inside a darkened house looms a column of TVs littered with VHS tapes, a pagan shrine to forgotten analog gods. The screens crackle and pop endlessly with monochrome vistas of static—white noise permeating the brain and fogging concentration. But you must fight the urge to relax: this is no mere movie night. Those obsolete spools contain more than just magnetic tape. They are imprinted with the very soul of evil.” Be sure to write your review here!! READ MORE

First ‘Deep Dark’ Still Talks To A Hole In the Wall

The first frame grab from the feature film Deep Dark shows lead character Hermann (Sean McGrath; Cell Count) in his new home. In this dilapidated apartment he finds his muse and the film showcases the strange, sometimes violent relationship that develops between them. A modern cocktail of several genres, the film serves up equal parts psychological horror and romance, because after all, love can be a little scary.

In it, “A failed sculptor finds a strange, talking hole in the wall. The hole has the power to fulfill his wildest dreams, or it just might become his worst nightmare.

Deep Dark is Michael Medaglia’s first feature film production and this will be Lara Cuddy’s third production with Polluted Pictures as producer. This will also be Polluted Pictures (Cell Count) first co-production of a script that was not written by either Todd or Jason Freeman.

The film is currently in production while concurrently running a KickStarter Campaign for additional post production funds. $10 or more gains access to daily behind-the-scenes videos from the set while the movie is being shot. READ MORE

In the slasher redo, “Frank (Elijah Wood) is the withdrawn owner of a mannequin store, but his life changes when young artist Anna appears asking for his help with her new exhibition. As their friendship develops and Frank’s obsession escalates and the number of victims increases, it becomes clear that Frank is far more dangerous than he seems.
