[TV] Gorgeous “True Blood” Poster Makes Vamp Warning: No One Lives Forever

Bon Temp visitors, get ready for the return of True Blood” on HBO Sunday, June 16 at 9PM.

HBO has released the first teaser poster that continues their streak of awesome promo items. Featuring the tagline “No One Lives Forever,” the one-sheet depicts a vampire seemingly drowning in blood. Even immortal vamps will eventually die. Oxymoron anyone? Awesome.

The series started in 2008, “In a world where vampires have “come out of the coffin”, Sookie Stackhouse, a telepathic waitress, discovers a new world of different creatures when she meets Bill Compton, a vampire.”

Guest stars joining the HBO smash in Season 6 are acting vet Rutger Hauer (as a mysterious figure with deep ties to Sookie and Jason), “Rubicon’s” Arliss Howard (as Louisiana Governor Truman Burrell), “Friday Night Lights” grad Jurnee Smollett-Bell (as do-gooder Nicole), “90210‘s” Amelia Rose Blaire (as Howard’s onscreen daughter), “House‘s” Karolina Wydra (as a badass vamp) and All The Boys Love Mandy Lane‘s Luke Grimes as James, a Jim Morrison style vampire. Full Length Trailer For ‘Riddick’ Antes Up On Creatures, Bounty Hunters And… Brightness! New Poster Added!

David Twohy and Vin Diesel have reunited for Riddick, the third film in the Pitch Black franchise, and we finally get the first full length trailer (via Machinima) after a brief tease two months ago! I imagine this will be attached to Fast & Furious 6, whose existence Diesel likely used as a bargaining chip to get this film made.

Diesel reprises his role as the antihero Riddick, a dangerous, escaped convict wanted by every bounty hunter in the known galaxy. The infamous Riddick has been left for dead on a sun-scorched planet that appears to be lifeless. Soon, however, he finds himself fighting for survival against alien predators more lethal than any human he’s encountered. The only way off is for Riddick to activate an emergency beacon and alert mercenaries who rapidly descend to the planet in search of their bounty. The first ship to arrive carries a new breed of merc, more lethal and violent, while the second is captained by a man whose pursuit of Riddick is more personal. With time running out and a storm on the horizon that no one could survive, his hunters won’t leave the planet without Riddick’s head as their trophy.

Right now it looks like this movie has the violence and scale of Pitch Black, but with the CG and bright lighting of Chronicles. We’ve also got some stills and a new poster below! READ MORE

One by one they begin to disappear, all that is left behind to be found by the others is the devastation and carnage of their demise.

‘The ABCs of Death’ Sequel Will Expand Genre Horizons

Magnet Films, the genre arm of Magnolia Pictures, will produce a sequel to ABCs of Death in association with Timpson Films and Drafthouse Films, Variety reports.

ABCs of Death tapped separate horror directors for 26 short films about death. The second film will expand beyond horror helmers, however, and has signed on directors including The Last Circus’ Alex de la Iglesia, Room 237‘s Rodney Ascher and animator Bill Plympton.

Additional confirmed filmmakers include Lithuania’s Kristina Buozyte and Bruno Samper (Vanishing Waves), Japan’s arthouse provocateur Sion Sono (Cold Fish, Suicide Club), Splce and Cube‘s Vincenzo Natali, indie horror icon Larry Fessenden (The Last Winter, Habit), The Collection’s Marcus Dunstan, France’s Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo (Inside, Livid), E.L. Katz (director of the SXSW breakout hit Cheap Thrills), twin auteurs Jen and Sylvia Soska (American Mary), Israel’s Aharon Keshales and Navot Papushado (Rabis, Big Bad Wolves), A Lonely Place to Die’s Julian Gilbey, Brazil’s most controversial filmmaker Dennison Ramalho (Ninjas), The Legend of Beaver Dam and the upcoming Stagefright‘s Jerome Sable, and animator Robert Morgan – creator of the BAFTA Award nominated short “Bobby Yeah”.

Like they did with the original, producers will hold a director’s competition this summer to include one additional filmmaker. Release of ABCs of Death 2 is planned for next year.

Magnet acquired last year’s horror pic V/H/S and will release a sequel to it later this year.

This time around we’re all determined to expand the concept to even more hyperkinetic, comically deranged and mortally dizzying heights of how someone can shuffle off this mortal coil,” said Ant Timpson, who will produce along with Tim League in conjunction with Todd Brown, Marc Walkow, Mitch Davis and Ted Geoghegan.

[BD Review] ‘Naked Lunch’ HAS to be Experienced

Reviewed by Patrick Cooper

Sitting down to write a review of the Criterion Collection’s Naked Lunch Blu-ray, I thought about how I’d probably get nothing done if my laptop had a pulsating sphincter. The film, loosely based on the infamous drug-soaked book by William S. Burroughs, may be David Cronenberg’s most unusual and least accessible film, but it also might be one of his best. I’ve seen it a couple times before and re-watching it again, I was completely sucked in by the effects and audaciousness, but I realized it’s nearly impossible to accurately describe in the words of mere mortals. It’s one of those films that have to be experienced – like Holy Mountain or Robocop. READ MORE

‘Nightbreed’ Cabal Cut Nearing Blu-ray Distribution Deal? TV Show On The Way?

The last we’d heard about “Cabal Cut” of Clive Barker’s Nightbreed Morgan Creek had given the filmmakers permission “to show the cut around the world and to raise money to prepare the cut for a release on Blu-ray… This could not, would not, have happened without your voices. We have all been heard. The Morgan Creek team have my thanks and my respect. Very seldom does anyone in the movie business pay attention as they have, understanding perhaps that the message of the movie as I shot it is one that dramatizes a different ending to the age-old story of how a war between Humankind and something Other draws to a close.

Now Michael Plumides has posted in the comments section of the Occupy Midian Facebook, “Russell, you said you didn’t expect anything before 2014, remember? Well, it looks like the distribution deal is moving forward. Our distributors are presently at Cannes but we will resume talks when they return – we probably will not make the announcement until the Fall. Also we have a channel very interested in the TV show. Stay tuned.” It’s hard to suss out exactly what all of this means – especially the bit about the TV show – but at least the mood seems positive.

To clarify about Warner Bros. rights he added, “The Cabal Cut” is a separate film all together. Warner has no control over this film – the added footage makes it a completely different product.

Check out the review here. Also, keep checking with Occupy Midian website for updates. READ MORE
