Alright, this was too cool to not write something about. Apparently, Damian Kulash of Ok Go fame will be joining author Neil Gaiman, Amanda Palmer, and Ben Folds at the Rethink Music Conference in Boston to, get this, write and record eight songs in eight hours. Not content there, they will then play a concert and then release it all as an album. All of this is meant to “…explore/re-conceptualize the entire notion of artistic creation and its mechanical dissemination and human reception in these topsy-turvy modern times of ours.” You can watch all of the action live, after the jump!

Several weeks ago, drummer Ginger Fish quit Marilyn Manson, which wasn’t much of a surprise since not much was going on in the MM camp that I’ve heard of. Well, it turns out that he has joined up with Rob Zombie as the new touring drummer. Joey Jordison had to leave the band due to scheduling conflicts with Slipknot, who will be doing some festival tour dates this summer. Who else saw this coming a mile away? Anyways, check after the jump for a video of the new line-up rocking out the ever awesome ‘Superbeast’.
Television shows are an amazing thing, if you find a good one that is. We find a series we enjoy and it becomes a part of our lives. We connect with the characters, we hope our fears don’t come true and we follow the story closely. Just look at the people who followed Lost to a near religious craze. Or what about todays ‘Gleeks’? There is something about a well made TV show that lures people in and becomes something we talk about with our friends for hours.
A few weeks ago, Nevermore announced that they were dropping off the Symphony X tour (Soilwork had already dropped off about a month or so ago). Well, the reason for that departure has just come out: guitarist Jeff Loomis and drummer Van Williams have left the band. Check after the jump for a statement from the both of them.

Any band that names itself after a character from Big Trouble In Little China immediately has my full attention. Seriously though, isn’t that just one fantastic movie? Okay, coming back to the point, Lo-Pan have announced May 24th as the release date for their latest album, ‘Salvador‘. They’ll also be touring starting the week before and going until the first week of June with a whole slew of bands (check it out after the jump). You know what Jack Burton had to say about this band? “The check is in the mail.”
Winds Of Plague‘s new album, ‘Against The World‘, came out today. To lure those in who haven’t yet picked up your copy, the band released a short teaser video, which you can see below. The teaser made me think of a horror version of Sin City, albeit not as stylish. Who’s got the album and what do you think of it so far?
I don’t know about you guys, but I’m a big fan of Adam Green‘s Frozen. I think Brad (Mr. Disgusting) hit the nail on the head with his review. So I’m thrilled that I got the chance to do an interview with Andy Garfield, composer of Frozen. If you head on past the jump, you’ll be able to read about Andy‘s history with composing, the various techniques he uses while scoring, and what his drink of choice was during the Frozen composing process. Also, don’t forget to pick up your copy of the soundtrack here.
It’s probably totally sexist to dedicate an entire article to the celebration of a handful of vocalists that are simply going to make this list because they are female. After all, the argument has been made to me endless times that it shouldn’t be about a person’s gender when you judge their music or skill. It should just be about being a damn good vocalist. But let’s be real here, people still find the presence of a woman, especially in a band, as some what of a novelty. The music world is male dominated, and even I will admit, I have a bias when it comes to the expectations I have for female fronted bands. And that’s exactly why these girls rock so much. All of them are talented as hell, and I’m proud to share a set of -ahem- parts with them. Sexism sucks – but these girls don’t. Here are my top 5 female rock vocalists, both historic and modern. Okay, it’s Monday, which took me a while to figure out since Rebecca Black never taught me the days after Sunday. As a result, I wanted to give people a chuckle to start the week. Queue WhoMadeWho and their video for ‘Every Minute Alone‘. I can’t tell you why, but it made me laugh quite heartily. The song comes off their upcoming mini-LP, ‘Knee Deep‘, which comes out April 26th.
Blabbermouth.net is reporting that Glenn Danzig (Misfits, Danzig) has written and submitted a song for The Hangover 2. Director Todd Phillips asked Danzig to record a song for the sequel as he had used the song that Glenn had written for Johnny Cash, ‘Thirteen‘, for the original. The end result is the lead track ‘Black Hell‘.
