Progressive sludge metal band Baroness have announced that their newest album, Yellow & Green, will be coming out July 17th via Relapse Records. This release sees the band reteaming with Blue Record producer John Congleton (Explosions In the Sky) and was recorded over nearly the entirety of 2011. The album will be a 2CD/LP release.
Front man John Baizley states, “We had been on tour for eight years, and we decided to take a break from our adventure to dig our heels in at home and write a new record. We spent the entirety of the past year dedicating ourselves to the new album. Without the break from touring and the time we took to rest and reflect, we would have been entirely unable to write this new record. We have become re-inspired. Now it’s time to get back out on the road.”
The band will be joining Meshuggah for a month-long US tour starting April 29th. READ MORE
Alright music festival fans, the full Lollapalooza 2012 line up has been unveiled! The main headliners of the show will be Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Black Keys, and Black Sabbath. Other notable artists (at least for me) are At The Drive-In, Sigur Ros, Metric, Madeon, and maybe Bloc Party. Oh, and Franz Ferdinand put on one hell of a show.
I do have to say that I’m excited to hear that Black Sabbath will be performing. It’s good to hear that guitarist Tony Iommi is not letting his lymphoma get in the way of the reunion. It’s this kind of perseverance and tenacity that shows his strength and commitment.
The Chicago music festival will take place August 3-5 in Grant Park. You can check out the full line up and order tickets HERE. READ MORE
There is a video making its way around various social media platforms that is becoming viral. In the video, an old man in a nursing home is given an iPod and headphones and he lights up the moment music starts playing. The iPod and headphones were provided by Music & Memory, a nonprofit organization that creates individual playlists for the elderly or infirm.
This video, and the one below, are incredibly powerful and meaningful to me. After all, who here hasn’t had a time where music got you through a tough situation? I know that music has helped me through grief, loss, pain, anger, depression, and who knows how much more. The video below truly astonishes me as it shows an old woman who has been using a walker for two years kick it to the side in order to teach her doctor how to salsa. That is the power of music. It doesn’t only rejuvenate the body, it rejuvenates the soul. READ MORE
Harmonix music game guru Matthew Nordhaus was recently interviewed by The Hollywood Reporter to discuss the future of the wildly popular Rock Band series since the company is no longer owned by MTV. The group is gearing up to release their first self-published game entitled Rock Band Blitz, which will be a rhythm based game that can connect seamlessly with previous Rock Band titles, allowing users to add to the downloadable games 20 brand new songs. Additionally, the weekly DLC updates that Harmonix releases will be compatible with Blitz.
The full interview can be seen at the link above and gameplay can be seen below. From what I can tell, it seems the rhythm needs to be kept with the trigger buttons on the controller and that jumping around is simply done with either the thumbstick or the D-pad. READ MORE
Ugh, it’s Monday already? What happened to the weekend? Answer: A ton of horror movies, a ton of beer, and a random hour or two of Just Dance on Kinect (I tore up Boogie Wonderland). But that doesn’t mean I’m ready for another week of toil and drudgery. But then comes along a video that gets me psyched and ready to take on any and all challenges that can be thrown my way! So, my dear readers, I encourage you to check out Zombie INC.‘s Challenge Of The Undead below to get your week off to a badass start! READ MORE
If you’ve read my review for O.S.I.‘s Fire Make Thunder, you’ll know that I’m 1) a big fan of the band and 2) a big fan of their newest album. So seeing a video for their song For Nothing was released, I just had to check it out. And guess what? It’s pretty much tailor made for horror fans.
Shot entirely in black and white, the video uses swirling fog, creepy skulls, and this weird face that has no nose whatsoever gently singing along. I definitely recommend checking out this video below and giving this album a listen. READ MORE

This week’s singles include new music from Damon Albarn, Silversun Pickups, Avatar, Stellar Revival, and Garbage. Some are amazing and some are terrible, but only one can be chosen as my pick for “Single Of The Week”. So which single gets the crown? Hit the jump to find out! READ MORE
Okay, look here, there’s a new Fear Factory album coming out by the name of The Industrialist. Some Fear Factory purists are whining that it’s not the real deal because the only original members are singer Burton C. Bell and guitarist Dino Cazares (Gene Hoglan is drummer and Matt DeVries is on bass). You know what I say? As long as it makes me want to punch holes in concrete walls, I don’t really care.
Well, to whet the appetite of eager fans, the guys have put out a 49-second sample of their first single, Recharger. The sample proves that the band is fully capable of putting out brutal industrial metal which mixes in melody that takes full advantage of Bell’s unique voice. Check it out below and weigh in with your thoughts! READ MORE
Mindless Self Indulgence singer Jimmy Urine and video game composer Akira Yamaoka recently sat down together to discuss what you’ll be hearing when you play the upcoming zombie action game Lollipop Chainsaw. The video (which you can watch below) shows footage from the game as well as a description on how the music was envisioned and, ultimately, brought to life.
If you’re as excited for this game as I am, this video is definitely worth a few minutes of your time. READ MORE
(Credit: Orfield Laboratories)
If you’re looking for a serious challenge, I recommend heading to the Orfield Laboratories in Minneapolis, Minnesota where they have an anechoic chamber, a room that cancels out 99.99% of all outside sound. So what’s so special about this room? Well, for one thing, NASA uses it to accustom astronauts to the silence of space. But what they found out was that when there is an absence of sound, the human ear needs to find something to listen to. READ MORE
I’m a sucker for awesome mash ups. I’m especially a fan of mash ups that take two seemingly unrelated genres and makes them work perfectly together. So when Isosine, the genius behind Psychosocial Baby, put together electro-pop artist Madeon with Slipknot, I hoped I was in for something awesome. Well, it definitely paid off. Check out this awesome mash up entitled Before Icarus here (you can also download the song at the same link). READ MORE
“Great news!! Guess all the efforts, the covert sessions, and painstaking, soul-numbing seances performed to reach the souls of former chart toppers – now in the life beyond – have finally come to fruition!! We thank them and we thank you, our fans!!! We just made an album. You guys put it on the charts!!!“
These are the words directly from Meshuggah
as they were told that their latest album Koloss
) has become not only the highest in 1st week sales but also the highest Billboard debut in Nuclear Blast USA history. Selling almost 18.5k copies, Koloss debuted at number 17 on the Billboard 200.
For a band as brutal, heavy, and nonstandard, this is an amazing achievement. I’m beyond excited for the guys and can’t wait to see how this impacts their career.
What is with this year? We started out with Lamb of God
), then we got Meshuggah
) and now Gojira
has announced that they will be releasing their latest album, L’Enfant Sauvage
, June 26th (just in time for my birthday!). It’s as though 2012 is the year to melt your face off with unending brutal heaviness. My reply to that is simply bring it on! I crave more metal!
The latest from Gojira translates to “The Wild Child” and will feature 11 blistering tracks guaranteed to make you headbang until you develop a rather painful hernia (get a good chiropractor ready). Preorders will begin shortly with a special edition including two bonus tracks, a double-colored version of the album on vinyl, and an exclusive t-shirt.
Check below for the full track listing and a comment from singer/guitarist Joe Duplantier.
The video for Marilyn Manson‘s No Reflection has just come out and is now available for everyone to see. In it, Manson and five pretty young ladies drink what basically looks like the slime from Troll 2 and then proceed to lose their minds. This narrative is splice with footage of the band performing in a room that has a serious leak somewhere as there is about six inches of water on the floor. If Manson wants, I know a few good plumbers.
No Reflection comes off of Manson’s upcoming album Born Villain
, which comes out May 1st.
Manson will be hitting the road with The Pretty Reckless
later this month. All tour dates can be found here
The official video for the new Dragonforce single, Cry Thunder, has come out and is surprisingly pretty damn good! The song comes off their upcoming album The Power Within, which comes out April 17th. The track is a really solid, epic power metal track that goes at a very manageable speed (as opposed to the blisteringly fast Through The Fire And The Flames). Also, guitarists Herman Li and Sam Totman don’t really do anything super flashy or astounding until the guitar solo, allowing new singer Marc Hudson to show his talents.
Also, how awesome is it to see a video with the ban playing on a huge stage, lights flashing everywhere but no crowd? I’m serious here! Those videos died out in the 80′s. The last one I can recall like that was Rammstein
‘s Ich Tu Dir Weh
There’re two new videos today that I want to bring to your attention. The first is the official video for David Lynch‘s Crazy Clown Time, which comes off his album of the same name (review). The video is definitely NSFW as it features a woman with her breasts bared for a good majority of the video. That being said, it’s undeniably a Lynch video. With strange characters, bright colors and odd imagery, the music and visuals fit perfectly.
The second video comes from legendary doom metal band Saint Vitus
. Coming off their upcoming album Lillie: F-65
, you can check out the video for Let Them Fall
below. This album will be their first release in 17 years. The video is directed by Michael Panduro who brought us the fantastically disgusting Ohrwurm video
by Cephalic Carnage
Check out both videos below and enjoy!
Now available on iTunes
, and the official The Devil’s Carnival website
is the official soundtrack for the film. Featuring the voices of Emilie Autumn
, Ogre (Skinny Puppy
), Ivan Moody (Five Finger Death Punch
), and many more, this soundtrack promises to be a delight for fans of a darker, more macabre musical theater experience.
Check out a clip of Ivan Moody singing to an audience below as well as descriptions of each track.
YouTube guitar guru Rob Chappers (a.k.a. The Monkey Lord) has recently announced the formation of a new band entitled Dorje, which features three members of the recently broken up band Chasinjade. Bloody-Disgusting Music has gotten some exclusive quotes from Chappers himself. Check out all the information below.
Ben Moores, a 16-year old, was the victim of a brutal, disgusting, senseless attack. Fifteen youths set upon him, knocking him to the ground, kicking and beating him. His wrists and head were stomped on. Patches of his hair were yanked out. Blood poured from his ears. All this violence for a very simple reason: Ben is a heavy metal fan.
According to the Manchester Evening News
, Ben was attacked behind a local supermarket, one which was only two miles away from the site where Sophie Lancaster
was brutally attacked for “looking goth” in 2007. Lancaster later died from her injuries.

Frustrated with AMC’s lack of a The Walking Dead OST
release, fans of the series have taken to creating a Facebook group
to try and convince the studio execs otherwise. The thought process is that the more users that join this group, the more of a chance there is that an OST will be released. The music of the series is crafted by award-winning composer Bear McCreary
, who also scored such shows as Battlestar Galactica, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, and more.
I’m a personal fan of Bear and his work. The guy shows not only a passion for music but for really diving into a project and letting it become a part of himself. It’s that personal touch that impresses me the most.
Check out our interview with Bear here
Update: Yes, this was an April Fool’s joke.
Bloody-Disgusting is thrilled to be the first to let you know the new title of Metallica‘s upcoming album AND who the new producer is going to be! Check below for the exclusive details.
Industrial metal band Fear Factory is back! Burton C. Bell and Dino Cazares will be releasing The Industrial on June 5th via Candlelight Records. The album will be produced by longtime Fear Factory friend Rhys Fulber (Frontline Assembly, Delerium).
Bell states, “The protagonist (The Industrialist) is the incarnation of all industries in the form of an automaton. The mechanical, technological, and scientific advances through the industrial age led to the creation of The Industrialist. In the story, the automaton becomes sentient as it collects memories with each passing day. Through observation and learning, it gains the will to exist. What was meant to help man, will eventually be man’s demise.”

I’m willing to bet some of you are scratching your heads, thinking, “Pink on Bloody-Disgusting? What the fu…?” Well you gotta remember that this is Twisted VIDEO of the Week and the below video is seriously twisted!
