Columbia Pictures’ 30 Days of Night (review) was number 1 at the box office this weekend pulling in an estimated $16 million, according to the Box Office Mojo. This is about $6 million less than what was expected, but it still sounds successful enough to warrant a sequel. If so, creator Steve Niles tells us exclusively that he’s ready, artist Ben Templesmith is ready and star Melissa George is ready. In addition, Steve told us they’d want David Slade back, although our sources indicate that Slade wasn’t happy with this production. We’ll keep you posted as more news comes in, but it looks like 30 Days is going to pull in over $35 million by the end of its theatrical run.
