According to the Hollywood Reporter “Columbia Pictures has acquired domestic distribution rights to the English-language remake of the Japanese horror thriller “Ju-On” (The Grudge), which is being produced by Sam Raimi’s Ghost House Pictures and financed by Senator International. The film’s title refers to a curse that befalls someone who dies in the grip of a powerful rage. Those who encounter this murderous supernatural curse die, and a new one is born — passed like a virus from victim to victim in an endless, growing chain of horror. The remake is being written by Stephen Susco and directed by Takashi Shimizu.” No date is set yet for the release. Read our review of the original here.
