A few days ago there was a rumbling of a Dead Island movie in the works but it would seem that report was a little premature. According to the game’s Facebook page they’re still considering a Dead Island film but they haven’t signed with anyone yet as a “high-quality movie is the #1 thing we’re concerned about for a film adaptation.”
When it comes to bad video game films Hollywood’s batting a thousand so it’s reassuring to see a studio taking a potential film adaptation of their IP seriously. I don’t think I could sit through another Hitman, Bloodrayne, House of the Dead, Max Payne, Doom, Street Fighter, Wing Commander, Alone in the Dark, gasp, Far Cry, Mortal Kombat 2 (the first didn’t entirely suck), Laura Croft or Prince of Persia again. Yeah, I know I skipped Resident Evil and Silent Hill but Milla Jovovich can do no wrong and I actually enjoyed the latter.
