C2E2 Impression: Battlefield 3 Is The Most Beautiful Looking Game I Have Ever Seen

Published

on

I spent my Saturday and Sunday this weekend at the C2E2 convention in Chicago, checking out the nerds, the merch, the artwork and on my way out I almost missed the best thing there, (For me) battlefield 3. For all the Comic coverage you can handle, head over to the comics section GRAPHIC CONTENT, where Theo lays it all out for you.

They basically brought us into this mini theater room with an extra large flat screen tv and about 20 or so chairs. There is a 15 minute INCREDIBLE demo you get to watch with some scenes from the game. Some of which are in the video above. But that video above does NO justice at all to what I got to see. Please, read on. I have to say, this is one of the best, if not ‘the’ best looking video game I have ever seen during actual game play. In a game like this, you don’t need cut scenes because the whole damn thing looks mind blowing. The game is running on what the guy running the video called the Frostbite 2 Engine, and it puts most other game engines to shame.

I mean, I’m sure they were running the game on the most expensive TV I have ever sat in front of, and a PC that would take my computers out for a nice steak dinner and never call them back. But while that does make a big difference, it doesn’t take away from the beautifully put together game.

The video above only shows a cut up version of what I got the chance to witness. The is an amazing scene where the troops head up onto a build to take out the sniper that shot their friend. They are crouching and moving carefully until they get to the edge of the building. While on your belly, a troop rolls you an RPG, and the others pop up and give you cover fire. You pop up, fire the rocket right into the other building and blow off a large part of the outer wall. Talk about an amazing scene, I can’t describe to you how good it looked. Everything in the environment is so perfect, from the building exploding, to pots breaking as the sniper tries to take your head off, car explosions, the character models. This game is going to be incredible. I’m going to call it right here, this game is going to sell better than Black Ops.

While you wait for Alien: Romulus, the folks over at Devilworks have cooked up their own slice of “mockbuster” fun with Alien Hunt, and we’re debuting the trailer here on BD this morning.

This brand-new sci-fi horror from director Aaron Mirtes (The Bigfoot Trap, Painted in Blood) is set for its US premiere on May 14, and you can find it on digital thanks to Devilworks.

You can exclusively watch the official trailer for Alien Hunt below, which looks to combine elements of Alien and Predator. This particular “mockbuster” has very little interest in hiding its inspirations, with the alien designs plucked straight out of H.R. Giger’s beautiful brain. Hey, if you’re going to pull from other movies, might as well take from the all-time greats!

In Alien Hunt, “On a hunting trip in the wilderness, a group of siblings discovers an abandoned military outpost on their land, but is it what it seems?

“Their trip takes a sinister turn when they find themselves facing off against a relentless army of extra-terrestrial beings. Suddenly, the hunters become the hunted.

“The formidable squad of alien soldiers will stop at nothing to wipe out the enemy and in an all-out, brutal battle for survival, it’s kill or be killed in Alien Hunt.”

Barron Boedecker (Escape Pod, The Bigfoot Trap), Brent Bentley (The Perfect In-Laws, Haunt Season), Deiondre Teagle (The Visitor, Painted in Blood, Death Ranch), Chelsey Fuller (The Bigfoot Trap, The Silent Natural), Jesse Santoyo (A Nashville Country Christmas, Potter’s Ground), and Adam Pietripaoli (The Bigfoot Trap, The OctoGames) star.
