Anchor Bay Films has picked up all rights for the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia for Myriad Picture’s genre thriller Not Forgotten, starring Simon Baker and Paz Vega and directed by Dror Soref. The deal comes on the heels of two successful screenings of the film at the just-completed Slamdance Film Festival. Beyond the break you can read more and check out the first batch of stills.
Anchor Bay Films President Bill Clark said about the acquisition, “We are thrilled to be working with Myriad Pictures and releasing Not Forgotten. Over the past year, Simon Baker has established himself as an even bigger star with feature as well as television audiences and we know they’ll love this film too.”
Baker plays Jack Bishop, a man with a secret past that is revealed when his daughter is kidnapped. Returning to his roots as a believer in the religious cult La Santa Muerte, Bishop is forced to confront his own demons and the growing suspicions of his wife Amaya, played by Paz Vega, until the surprise ending.
La Santa Muerte is an offshoot of Catholicism in which devotees pray to the saint known as The Holy Death for revenge and other acts against their enemies. It has a particularly strong presence in U.S./Mexico border towns.
“We are very excited to be part of the Anchor Bay Films team with Bill and Kevin Kasha as they launch their new label,” Myriad Pictures President and CEO and NOT FORGOTTEN Executive Producer Kirk D’Amico said. “We share the same sensibilities about product in the marketplace right now, and I look forward to working with them in the future.”
