It’s Tuesday, which means it’s time for another edition of Horror In Your House, our weekly DVD/Blu-ray release list that features all things digital in horror. The highlight o the week is Toby Wilkins’ indie film Splinter, which arrives on both DVD and Blu-ray from Magnolia Home Entertainment. In addition, Lionsgate has a trio of 80’s movies that you should all be picking up. Read on for the list….

THE BAND FROM HELL: Tapeworm

Aspiring rock musician Tony returns to his college town to reunite with his estranged girlfriend, Rosemary. Upon returning, Tony meets the rock hit band Neowolf and starts acting erratic. Rosemary, confused and frustrated with Tony, seeks out help, leading her to suspect that the band is vengeful pack of werewolves, killing anyone in their way.

Sai, a new age, hip, young artist living in a downtown warehouse delves into an elusive fantasy world of the unknown. An enigmatic and handsome man seduces her to try an ancient drug that, unbeknownst to her, will make her the prey of a vampire from a dark dimension. He will take advantage of her newfound addiction and use it to cross over from his world into hers.

FEAR THE FOREST: Next Wave

The Native American Indians thought it was fact… they respected, feared it and Believed to be a God. Ten Years ago, there was a “Ghost-like something” seen killing people in the dark unforgiving woods as people were culled away one by one and some never to be found. When Barbara Sanders and her free spirited college friends venture off into the deep woods of the Northeastern Valley Mountains to look for this so called legend and for a weekend retreat, their camping and canoeing trip fun turns into Fear in the Forest and a dangerous roller coaster adventure ride when they each encounter the unspeakable terror! Now it’s a serious struggle against Man Vs Beast in which there can only be one in the end.

In this mind-twisting thriller from the creators of “The Eye” and “Re-cycle,” a dark forest known for causing mysterious deaths becomes the focus of a recent savage murder. A homicide detective, a botanist researching the paranormal, and his tabloid TV reporter girlfriend each embark on a treacherous journey to the heart of this “Forest of Death,” where a chilling revelation awaits them all.

EL LLANTO DE HELENA (HELENA’S CRY): Navarre

Isabela bears a tormented life ever since the tragic death of her daughter Helena on a road accident; which is now currently investigated by two journalists: Sonia and Juan Ramón. Rumors have said that a strange apparition from beyond the dead is responsible for the killings of those unlucky ones traveling there by night. The reporters try to get to the bottom of the problem but what they uncover is an incoherent and incomprehensive history in which the evil forces seem eager to continue killing the innocent.

A young couple retreats to the wilderness for a romantic camping weekend, but the trip quickly spirals into a nightmare when they are carjacked by an escaped convict and his girlfriend. Thrown together by chance, no one can imagine the terrifying horror that awaits the two couples at a remote and isolated gas station.

SUMMER SCHOOL: Osiris

Charlie is a teenage horror buff and even runs his own movie review website. He decides to spend his last evening before the start of summer school catching up on his movie viewing. He watches one horror flick after another, his private movie marathon lasting well in to the wee hours of the night. In class the next day, lack of sleep overwhelms Charlie and he nods off. He soon finds himself in a series of all- too realistic nightmares that look an awful lot like his movies.

Three girls hoping to pledge the most elite sorority on campus must each tell the scariest story she can think of…

THE TREK: Plan 10

When Keith and Kim Russell head into the mountains on an adventure packed honeymoon, they find much more action than they were expecting. When the newlyweds stumble upon a pair of cave dwelling savages, their romantic getaway quickly becomes a tragic nightmare as each couple tests the limits of how far they are willing to go in order to protect the ones that they love.

Gateway Horror Classic ‘The Gate’ Returns to Life With Blu-ray SteelBook in May

One of my personal favorite horror movies of all time, 1987’s gateway horror classic The Gate is opening back up on May 14 with a brand new Blu-ray SteelBook release from Lionsgate!

The new release will feature fresh SteelBook artwork from Vance Kelly, seen below.

When best friends Glen (Stephen Dorff) and Terry (Louis Tripp) stumble across a mysterious crystalline rock in Glen’s backyard, they quickly dig up the newly sodden lawn searching for more precious stones.
