Takashi Miike Joins Tromaville NYPD?!

Can you read Japanese? Well I hope someone can, because this is one of the most bizarre news reports I’ve ever seen and it was posted on April Fools Day! According to a Japanese news website, loony Japanese director Takashi Miike is in negotiations to make a sequel to a classic Troma film. Read on to see which film and be amazed! The problem – is this just an April Fools Day joke? You be the judge.
Nick Mozak found a topic on the Troma’s forum that pointed to an article on Channel 68 Japan’s website, which reports that the crazy Japanese director Takashi Miiike is in final negotiations to direct a sequel to Sgt. Kabukiman NYPD. “He (Takashi Miike) goes on to promise this film will be more violent and intense than the original, delving deeper into the dark side of Sgt. Kabukiman’s origins. The reported budget is around 3.5 million, the biggest Takashi has ever worked with to date.”

Takashi Miike is the genius who brought you the Dead or Alive Trilogy, Audition, Ichi the Killer, Gozu, Zebraman and tons more amazing films. Watch this spot for more soon.

Sgt. Kabukiman starred in the funniest trailer EVER made – so says Mr. Disgusting.
