UPDATE: Box Office: Jigsaw is no Match for the Supernatural

Published

on

Here are the full weekend estimates: ‘Paranormal Activity’ with $22m and ‘Saw VI’ with $14.8m. Bloody Disgusting got their hands on the early box office projects and they’re staggering. While the two big horror films were tracking neck and neck, early reports show that Paranormal Activity beat the living crap out of Lionsgate’s Saw VI. Is Paranormal that powerful or are Saw fans still trying to get the bad taste of Saw V out of their mouth? So here’s the deal: Paranormal Activity pulled in an estimated $7.4m on Friday for a potential $21.5m overall weekend. Saw VI on the other hand, took in $6.9m Friday with a weekend projection of $15.7m. The real shocker is that while Paramount’s supernatural horror flick only played in 1,945 locations, Jigsaw’s games took over 3,036. What’s going to happen with a full marketing push and a full release? I guess now they can set their sights on Blair Witch? And what does this mean for the Saw franchise being that Saw V open to nearly DOUBLE VI?
