‘Psycho: 50th Anniversary Edition’ Blu-ray Release for Halloween!!

Alfred Hitchcock’s horror masterpiece is being “meticulously restored” for high-definition just in time for Halloween! High Def Digest reports that Universal Studios has just officially announced Psycho: 50th Anniversary Edition starring Anthony Perkins and Janet Leigh for Blu-ray on October 19. For this unprecedented anniversary, the classic film will also be honored at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival. The Blu-ray will feature 1080p video, a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 soundtrack (as well as the original mono), and supplements will include the following extras….
– Feature-length audio commentary with Stephen Rebello (Author of Alfred Hitchcock and the making of Psycho).

– The Making of Psycho: A feature-length documentary on Hitchcock’s most shocking film.

– In the Master’s Shadow – Hitchcock’s Legacy: Some of Hollywood’s top filmmakers discuss Hitchcock’s influence and why his movies continue to thrill audiences.

Gateway Horror Classic ‘The Gate’ Returns to Life With Blu-ray SteelBook in May

One of my personal favorite horror movies of all time, 1987’s gateway horror classic The Gate is opening back up on May 14 with a brand new Blu-ray SteelBook release from Lionsgate!

The new release will feature fresh SteelBook artwork from Vance Kelly, seen below.

When best friends Glen (Stephen Dorff) and Terry (Louis Tripp) stumble across a mysterious crystalline rock in Glen’s backyard, they quickly dig up the newly sodden lawn searching for more precious stones. Instead, they unearth The Gate — an underground chamber of terrifying demonic evil. The teenagers soon understand what evil they’ve released as they are overcome with an assortment of horrific experiences.
