The split personality of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde again is heading to the big screen, this time as an anti-hero. Heat Vision reports that David Ellison’s Skydance Prods., Dark Horse Entertainment and producer Mark Gordon have teamed to adapt the upcoming Dark Horse comic The Strange Case of Hyde, written by screenwriter Cole Haddon. Jekyll and his violent alter ego, Hyde, made their first appearance in an 1886 Robert Louis Stevenson novella that became an instant success and has inspired numerous stage and film adaptations. “Hyde” is not a retelling of the story but seeks to give it a fresh take by making the split personality the center of a Victorian-era action-adventure that sees him go head-to-head against a historical villain. Dark Horse will unveil the comic book this week at Comic-Con. Now the real question: which of several “Jekyll & Hyde” projects will actually get off the ground first?
