Just last week it was announced that Anchor Bay Films would be getting behind Silent Night, a remake of the classic 1984 holiday slasher Silent Night, Deadly Night. Automaton Transfusion and Under the Bed‘s Steven C. Miller will direct the story of a local police department’s search for the killer Santa Claus terrorizing their remote Midwestern town on Christmas Eve. Malcolm McDowell (Halloween, A Clockwork Orange) as Sheriff Cooper – a small town hero ready for some big action.
IFC quickly got in contact with McDowell who explains his role, which takes him from hunting Michael Myers to tracking down a killer Santa Claus.
“I’m the good guy,” McDowell explained. “And I’m chasing the bad Santa.”
Don’t expect McDowell to take any cues from Charles E. Sellier Jr.’s original film, though. He’s never seen them, nor does he want to. “No, I haven’t, he said. “And I’m not going to.”
