‘Must Have’ Blu-rays Invade Horror In Your House

Published

on

MGM is looking to make a ton of horror friends this week by releasing a stack of Blu-Ray/DVD combo packs on Tuesday. The best news, the releases cover several “must have” horror tittles like: Carrie, The Return of the Living Dead, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, and Misery. New Line Home Video is also getting in on the action by releasing Se7en on Blu-ray for the first time. It’s a good week. A good week indeed.

A remake of the “The Amityville Horror” which was based on the Jay Anson book. It purported that the residents of a tree-lined home in a Long Island suburb were terrorized by a haunted house. The home had been inhabited previously by a disturbed young man who murdered his family.

His only escape would be to transfer into the first human he revealed his true identity to… which places Andy in mortal danger.

When filmy spores fall from space and take root in San Francisco, the city is beautifully transformed by spectacular and exotic flowers. But these lovely extraterrestrial blossoms have gruesome plans for their earthly admirers: to slowly clone their bodies and then dispose of the originals!

MICAH SAYS: I know there are a lot of remakes and reimaging of this film, but this Donald Sutherland version is my absolute favorite. Worst one? The Nicole Kidman version, maybe?

JACOB’S LADDER (Blu-ray/DVD) – MGM
Vietnam veteran Jacob Singer (Tim Robbins) thinks he is going insane. Or worse. When his nightmares begin spilling into his waking hours, Jacob believes he is experiencing the aftereffects of a powerful drug tested on him during Vietnam. Or perhaps his post-traumatic stress disorder is worse than most. Whatever is happening to him, it is not good.

MISERY (Blu-ray/DVD) – MGM
Novelist Paul Sheldon has plans to make the difficult transition from writing historical romances featuring heroine Misery Chastain to publishing literary fiction. The former nurse takes care of him in her remote house, but becomes irate when she discovers that the author has killed Misery off in his latest book.

NECROMENTIA – Image Entertainment
This dark, twisted tale of erotic tortures and shocking torment dares to open the gates of hell for three men desperate to transcend the boundaries of death.
