Dark Skies Hang Over Landscaped ‘Super 8’ Poster

It’s been a big 24 hours for J.J. Abrams’ Super 8. Having just had the synopsis and full trailer unveiled, Paramount Pictures has released the first official eye-catching poster for the sci fi horror flick arriving in theaters June 10. The one sheet goes landscape and demands your attention. The question is, why is that beam of light centered on the water tower? Any thoughts?

In the summer of 1979, a group of friends in a small Ohio town witness a catastrophic train crash while making a super 8 movie and soon suspect that it was not an accident. Shortly after, unusual disappearances and inexplicable events begin to take place in town, and the local Deputy tries to uncover the truth – something more terrifying than any of them could have imagined.

The trailer released this morning screams Steven Spielberg, who produced the film with his Amblin company, alongside Abrams’ Bad Robot.
