I had some free time this holiday to cozy up with some digital comics on the psp. The best comic I read from those was Wormwood: Gentleman Corpse #1. Not only is it a great comics, but the digital version added a creator’s commentary from artist/writer Ben Templesmith. Hit the break for more thoughts…
I downloaded a couple of the free comics afford from the Playstation Network service and I was quite impressed with the software. It is a typical e-comic reader, but what is nice is that it has a guidance in it that moves the camera like your eyes would reading a book. The camera guides you through the pages, focusing on certain scenes, and even using camera shakes/tilts when needed. The best added extra I liked was the creator’s commentary on the issue. On certain pages/panels, Templesmith would go into detail on the process of making a comic or in depth analysis of the characters. It also does not hurt that Ben Templesmith is charming and hilarious.
Wormwood: Gentleman Corpse #1 still stands up when it first came out, and with the digital version it’s only 99 cents. You simply cannot pass this up, with a great story and bonus content it is a no brainer.
