Wes Craven Chooses Summer Break Over ‘Scream 5’

Ok, the title is a bit misleading, considering there’s been no offer (that we know of) for Wes Craven to return for a fifth Scream this summer — and even in the Weinstein brothers wanted to do it (as they stated here), they’re going to have to wait until at least this fall.

Craven told EW that him and his wife will be taking a well-deserved break from filmmaking: “I’m taking the summer off,” he insists. “I directed and produced, and my wife [Iya Labunka] produced, both ‘Scream 4’ and the previous film, ‘My Soul to Take’, and they were both very difficult films. So we just decided, ‘You know what? We’re going to spend the summer someplace nice and not think about film for a while.’

That’ll give Ghostface (or Ghostfaces) some time to come up with a motive for the next film…
