Twentieth Century Fox has launched of viral video campaign with conjunction to their forthcoming Rise of the Planet of the Apes, which opens August 5. The first video can be enjoyed below with more over at the official YouTube Channel. The footage is pretty rad as it shows what happens when a group of soldiers give a little money an AK-47. Even more disturbing are the comments that imply some of the viewers believe it to be real (even on Fox’s own YouTube channel).
Described as an origin story, “ ‘Apes’ is set in present day San Francisco and deals with the aftermath of man’s experiments with genetic engineering that lead to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy.” James Franco will play a driven scientist who becomes a crucial figure in the war between humans and apes.
