Due to the cancellation of shooting plans for ‘MI:3,’ Lions Gate Film’s hokey and dumb sounding Flight of the Dead is all set to go. You can check out the small story by reading on, or click here to read our extremely negative script review. ‘Flight’ follows the tale of two zombies being shipped back to their homeland after they are captured. But when the deadly creatures come unexpectedly to life aboard an airplane, the begin to wreak high-altitude havoc.
Variety reports, “Marco Mehlitz and German film fund and production outfit Cinerenta are bringing Lions Gate zombie pic “Flight of the Dead” to Studio Babelsberg.
Pic, the latest co-production between the long-time partners, adds another horror title to Cinerenta’s growing catalog of creepy pics as DVD exploitation becomes increasingly significant in the company’s strategy.
Although Mehlitz exited Cinerenta in July to set up his new shingle, Lago Film, at Babelsberg, he’ll continue to handle Cinerenta’s current slate, which includes chillers “Cave,” “The Woods” and “The Devil’s Rejects: House of 1,000 Corpses 2.”
Mehlitz wants to develop his own projects and is anxious to work with Studio Babelsberg Motion Pictures to help attract international productions to the facility. Thanks to the recent postponement of “Mission: Impossible 3,” which was set to shoot here this summer, Mehlitz was able to get “Flight of the Dead” into the studio.”
