I’ve really liked everything I’ve seen and read about Riddick so far, including the script. The threequel has Vin Diesel’s one-man killing machine stranded on a barren planet with monsters and mercenaries fighting for his head. It has connections to both previous films and has a more Pitch Black vibe, character and story-wise. The ending was the only thing that didn’t sit too well with me, but I’m sure it’s gone through a few rewrites since then.
Today, Moviehole got word that casting director Anne McCarthy (Pitch Black, Chronicles of Riddick, Insidious) has begun scouting for a few supporting roles, including Boss Johns, Santana, the sexy female merc Dahl, and the smug commander Krone. Check past the break for a spoilerific character breakdown.
Boss Johns is the father of William J. Johns (Cole Hauser) from the first film. He is contacted by the mercs and captures Riddick – with help from Santana, his subordinate – to find out what exactly happened to his son.
