Getting this day started, we’ve got a few short news briefs that begin with Milla Jovovich confirming that Kevin Durand – off the heels of Real Steel – will be playing “Barry Burton” in Paul W.S. Anderson’s Resident Evil: Retribution. Burton was a member of the Special Tactics And Rescue Service (S.T.A.R.S.) and the backup man. Umbrella gets back to work September 14, 2012.
Chiller revealed that its made-for-TV zombie adaptation Remains will premiere Friday, December 16 at 10pm. Directed by Colin Theys, and based on the graphic novel by Steve Niles, Remains is set in a chilling post-apocalyptic Reno, Nevada, and follows the survivors of a bizarre accident that reduced most of the world’s population to zombies. Grant Bowler, Lance Reddick, Miko Hughes and Tawny Cypress star.
Disney has finally reached a meeting of the minds on The Lone Ranger with director Gore Verbinski, Johnny Depp and producer Jerry Bruckheimer, says Deadline. The studio is expected to formalize a new start date imminently and announce it is moving forward and putting Depp back in the saddle as Tonto, with Armie Hammer as the title character. Back in August we learned that the plot would be horror-themed, featuring a werewolf and Native American shape-shifters. I’d ride to theaters for that!
Lastly, inside you’ll find a new “The Walking Dead” webisode that features Anthrax’s Scott Ian as a zombie. “I was told I was getting the full-on zombie ‘hero’ makeup,” Scott explained on his official site. “Basically, the lead is coming out of the house with two kids running into the street and they pass right by me…I turn and track them and then shamble off after them. We got to do the take about six times, and after each one I was cheering out loud.” Hit the 1:45 mark for the mayhem.
