So we have had Friday the 13th: The Series, Poltergeist: The Series and of course Buffy the Vampire Slayer: The Series so why not go ahead and add The Exorcist: The Series to that list of shows that really should have not been made. It seems since the remake made a decent amount of bank at the box office and didn’t quite destroy the integrity of the first film and the ones that followed, they might as well squeeze every penny they can out of these series and continue to ruin what is arguably one of the greatest horror movies of all time.
Look dead horse! Better beat it.
If the Dead Horse is “The Exorcist” series, then the thrashers are those that can’t tell when there’s no juice to be squeezed from the plum anymore.
A bit in this month’s Empire mag, Aussie edition, suggests James G.Robinson, CEO and Chariman of Morgan Creek, could be heading back into the devils den again (for a fight he just won’t win) for an “Exorcist” Television series.
Seems “Exorcist : The Beginning” wasn’t enough of a kick in the pearly whites for the studio, now they’re actually considering doing a TV series based on the film quadrilogy.
And with that…he fell from his chair.
You never know though, “Poltergiest III” tanked at the box office, and that ended up resulting in a reasonably popular TV Series. And let’s not forget how Joss Whedon turned “Buffy” from blunder into biggie.
Meantime, Robinson’s producing “Exorcist : The Beginning” Director (one of three) Renny Harlin’s “The Northmen”, a pic about a couple of Viking Brothers.
Paul Schrader has yet to get a call asking him to direct the pilot for the aforesaid “Exorcist” TV series.
