Near-Death Accident Haunts ‘Black River’

Black Forest Film Group has acquired the spec script Black River, a psychological thriller from Ransom Riggs, the author of New York Times bestseller “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children,” reports Variety.

‘Black River’ follows a small-town girl who has been haunted by a dead girl’s spirit ever since her own near-fatal accident. When she goes off to college and her friends begin to die, she must uncover the dark secret of the dead girl’s fate.

Black Forest’s founding partners Mark Morgan (The Twilight Saga), Kami Garcia (Beautiful Creatures), E. Thompson (Rites of Spring) and Brett Hudson (Black Forest: Hansel and Gretel & the 420 Witch) will produce the pic, which Riggs will co-exec produce.
