TV: Famke Janssen Moves Into Netflix’s ‘Hemlock Grove’

Famke Janssen

Variety is reporting that the beautiful Famke Janssen (100 Feet, X-Men, Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters) and Bill Skarsgard will both topline Eli Roth’s gothic mystery Netflix series, “Hemlock Grove,” which is to be both written and directed by the man behind Cabin Fever and Hostel.

Netflix’s latest foray into original programming is based on the novel by Brian McGreevy. The 13-episode skein will be available to Netflix subscribers in early 2013.

‘Hemlock Grove’ centers around the murder of a young girl in a ravaged Pennsylvania steel town.

Gaumont International Television is producing.

What’s most exciting to me is creating the series for Netflix, which as a feature filmmaker is like telling a story in a new medium,” Roth said. “Netflix as a platform is the perfect hybrid of cinema, television and social networking, with the creative freedom to go as dark as the story needs.
