No Joke, Platinum Dunes Getting Behind ‘Halloween’ Franchise

Halloween 1978

While some of you may think this is an April Fool’s joke, it’s not. Bloody Disgusting can exclusively report that Platinum Dunes is in talks to take the producing reigns on Dimension Films’ forthcoming Halloween sequel.

Word has it that Michael Myers’ return will not be in 3-D, nor will it instill the popular found footage model, which was originally being explored for the potential Friday the 13th sequel.

We’re hearing that Platinum Dunes is out to writers and directors, which could mean that – and as much as we personally love them – My Bloody Valentine and Drive Angry duo Todd Farmer and Patrick Lussier are no longer involved.

Platinum Dunes’ Brad Fuller and Andrew Form are responsible for remakes of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Amityville Horror, Friday the 13th and A Nightmare On Elm Street, as well as originals like The Unborn and Horsemen. They’re in post on the futuristic horror Vigilandia, as well as developing the latest Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles adaptation.

What would you guys like to see Platinum Dunes do with the franchise? Continue Rob Zombie’s story, do a fresh reboot, or what?

THEY SHOULD JUST LEAVE THIS ALONE! CAN’T BEAT THE ORIGINALS, NO MATTER WHAT THEY DO!

I agree. I love the Halloween films but it time to let them RIP. I’d rather just the ones with Jamie Lee Curtis or Rob Zombie’s films over and over then see another bad one get made.

personally, i’m glad that it looks like Dimension has decided to veer away from Zombie’s re-envisioning… honestly, what I, and a plethora of hardcore Halloween series fans, would LOVE to see is an epic & truly well-done conclusion to the original storyline, tying the films together, tying up loose ends and answering all the unanswered questions from the past, bringing back the few remaining survivors… i really think, if done right, with an intense and vast vision for the plot, it could really do justice to the series like never before, and really invigorate all fans of the films into believing in the true face and spirit of Michael Myers again…. i personally believe, with the right direction and an incredible writer, i think this could be the best road there is for this sequel…. but, of course, there’s always the haters who will barage me with blasts against this kind of idea, for they can’t see what i see, with where the original storyline’s plot can actually go… it really isn’t as broken or fragmented as people initially believe… in my mind, it is quite epic… just unfinished, so to others its seems convoluted. but it’s not… it just needs a masterpiece of an ending to bring it all together while having the most mindblowing & mindbending revelations all leading towards its impendingly exciting and inviting conclusion… oh, how fucking ecstatic i would be if they would just revisit the original series plot…….
