Stuart Gordon’s ‘Edmond’ Picked Up for North America

First Independent Pictures (Mail Order Wife) has acquired North American rights to Stuart Gordon’s next flick, Edmond, which was first produced in 1982 at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago and adapted for the screen by Mamet, “Edmond” centers on Edmond Burke (Macy), a successful businessman who walks out on his family on the advice of a fortune teller and plunges into the vortex of New York’s hellish underworld, where he is mugged and robbed before he kills a pimp and a would-be actress, finally ending up in prison. First Independent Pictures has acquired North American rights to “Edmond,” written by David Mamet. Pic stars William H. Macy, Julia Stiles, Denise Richards, Mena Suvari, Dylan Walsh, Joe Mantegna and Rebecca Pidgeon.

Wild Bunch acquired international rights on the title, which recently wrapped production under the direction of Stuart Gordon. Tartan Films has purchased rights for the U.K. and Ireland.

“Edmond” is the dark tale of man who tries to come to terms with a dull and meaningless life, only to descend from respectability into a dark world of murder and prison.

“Edmond” was produced by Muse Prods.’ Chris Hanley and Molly Hassell, Gordon, Pretty Dangerous Films’ Kevin Ragsdale, Duffy Hecht, Roger Kass and Mary McCann.
