Shimizu’s ‘Marebito’ Scares Brussells into Grand Prix Award!

Score another one for Tartan Films- and one for good horror! Takashi Shimizu’s (several Grudge movies) phenomenal and atmospheric Marebito (review) won the Grand Prix award at the 23rd Brussels International Festival of Fantastic Film! In Shimizu’s best movie to date, a fear-obsessed freelance cameraman (Shinya Tsukamoto) investigates an urban legend involving mysterious spirits that haunt the subways of Tokyo. Takashi Shimizu shot the film in just eight days, between the production dates for Ju-on: The Grudge and its remake, The Grudge.
