It’s official, I’ve run out of shelf space… but that doesn’t mean some old McFarlane figures can’t go in the trash or be given to my dog. NECA has just rocked by world and given us all a taste of the glory in which is to follow. NECA and George Romero in the same sentence- is there anything better?! Inside you’ll find details on NECA’s Dawn of the Dead toys along with a prototype image…

Figures.com breaks the news:

First 2 movie properties announced: T-shirts and action figures!

In exclusive news today (to figures.com), NECA informs us that they have been awarded the license by New Line Cinema to produce collectibles based on the 1979 apocalyptic horror classic George A. Romero’s Dawn of the Dead.

Announced licensed product includes T-shirts (SRP of $14-$19.99. Release date to be decided.) and action figures. “Flyboy”, pictured top as an early sculpt in progress, is the first confirmed figure. Look for him to join NECA’s Cult Classics line sometime in 2006.

Expect more images of “Flyboy” – along with the debut of a second surprise “Dawn of the Dead” character – as the New York Fall Toy Fair approaches. Stay tuned.
