DVD Review: Dario Argento’s ‘The Bird with the Crystal Plumage’

Head back to 1970 and see why Dario Argento was called the “Italian Hitch****” with his feature film The Bird with the Crystal Plumage, which has no been re-released on DVD thanks to Blue Underground. Argento’s break-through film follows a writer who is stalked by a serial killer after witnessing a murder attempt on one woman’s life. T.W. writes enthusiastically, “Blue Underground offers an excellent re-release of Argento’s paramount film, presenting the masterpiece in its original 2.35:1 widescreen format. The picture is immaculate with no visible scratches or dirt. The colors are vivid and the blackness is absolute, fully capturing the intensity of Vittorio Storaro’s (Apocalypse Now) stark cinematography.
