Today the first details were posted on this year’s FanTasia Film Festival, which begins in Montreal July 6th and runs all the way through July 24th. We look forward to covering the event every year, but there’s something about this year that makes it special — July marks the event’s 10th anniversary! What does this mean? You know there’s going to be more movies, more blood, more fun, more guest appearances and more freakin parties!! Inside you can read a list of films that have been announced thus far, with more coming soon…Fangoria got wind of some more major genre flicks slated for Montreal’s upcoming Fantasia Film Festival, which we last told you about here and marks the event’s 10th anniversary. The popular international fest runs this year July 6-24 at the city’s Concordia Hall and J.A. de Séve theaters, screening over 100 new genre feature films and shorts.
Movies just added to the lineup include: an opening-weekend double whammy of THE DESCENT (review) and PULSE (the remake); Lucky McKee’s long-delayed THE WOODS, making its North American premiere; the Snoop Dogg horror anthology HOOD OF HORROR; Stuart Gordon’s drama EDMOND (with Gordon attending); Richard Linklater’s Philip K. Dick animation A SCANNER DARKLY; Jan Svankmajer’s bizarro LUNACY; the Swedish vampire yarn FROSTBITEN; the nasty British thriller BROKEN (review); Irish director Billy O’Brien’s offbeat horror yarn ISOLATION; the Filipino ghost story SIGAW (review) (THE ECHO) and a plethora of new Asian oddities such as MY SCARY GIRL, TOKYO ZOMBIE, SARS WARS, HELL and SYNESTHESIA.
