Xenon Pictures has acquired North American rights to Snoop Dogg’s Hood of Horror, tentatively set for a fall theatrical bow followed by a DVD release in the early spring, according to the Hollywood Reporter. “Hood of Horror” unspooled Tuesday at the Los Angeles Film Festival as part of the Guilty Pleasures lineup. The film’s ensemble cast includes Snoop Dogg, Ernie Hudson, Danny Trejo, Method Man, Jason Alexander and Billy Dee Williams as well as such sports notables as the NBA’s Lamar Odom and Tayshaun Prince and the NFL’s Teyo Johnson, Justin Fargas and Glenn Cadrez. The film features three blood-soaked tales involving the residents of an inner-city neighborhood whose actions in this life determine their destination in the afterlife. The film features anime sequences created by Madhouse under the supervision of Oscar-winning visual effects supervisor John Gaeta (the “Matrix” trilogy).
