Random News: ‘Across the Hall’ Trailer, ‘4th Kind Image’ and More!

Published

on

This morning there were literally a handful of stories that really don’t deserve their own piece, therefore we’ve compiled a few stories into this one article. Beyond the break you can check out a small image of Milla Jovovich from Gold Circle Films’ The 4th Kind, a trailer for the Brittany Murphy starrer Across the Hall, read about a possible Cabin in the Woods tie-in and check out information on three horror films being sold at the European Film Market in Berlin. Here’s the trailer for Across the Hall, which follows a brutal standoff between a young man (Mike Vogel), his fiancee and his best friend (Danny Pino). You might remember Vogel from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Cloverfield.

The 4th Kind is a fact-based thriller involving an ongoing unsolved mystery in Alaska, where one town has seen an extraordinary number of unexplained disappearances during the past 40 years and there are accusations of a federal cover up. Directed by Olatunde Osunsanmi, the film stars Milla Jovovich, Elias Koteas, Will Patton, Hakeem Kae Kazim.

In other news, Joss Whedon continued the Cabin in the Woods hype by telling reporters that he has plans for comics tied to his upcoming horror movie Cabin in the Woods.

Sci Fi Wire reports that In a conference call Thursday to promote the Fox series Dollhouse, Whedon said that the “season eight” arc of Buffy comics is by no means the end of that story. “Oh, we definitely have a season nine in mind,” Whedon said. “We’re slogging our way through season eight. We’ve talked about doing more Serenity comics, and we’ve even talked to Dark Horse about potential for some Cabin [in the Woods] tie-ins.

Much like Cloverfield, which Goddard scripted, the Cabin story line provides a new twist on a classic scenario — in this case the young-people-stranded-in-the-woods horror trope.

The Berlin European Film Market is already underway and there are three films of note that we’ll be keeping a small eye on. First, we caught wind of a film by Richard Dutcher caled Evil Angel, which stars Ving Rhames, Ava Gaudet and Kristopher Shepard. The ancient myth of Lilith is brought to the 21st Century with a murderously sexy and seductive villainess who, as the earth’s first woman, proudly lays claim to being the world’s first serial. Click the image below for the poster and a bunch of stills. Watch the trailer over at BDTV.

As someone who is obsessed with UFOS (or more recently known as UAPs) and the concept of extraterrestrials, I love a good documentary. Sightings have been on the rise since the 1940s, with the atomic bomb seemingly acting as a catalyst for new visitors. But what are these UFOs/UAPs? Is there an explanation or are they simply beyond our explanation? Why are they here? Who are they? How much do our governments know? The questions are endless and so are the documentaries that attempt to uncover the secrets behind decades of sightings and alleged confrontations.

Whether you’re a seasoned viewer or new to the rabbit hole, there’s always a handful of interesting documentaries to get your neurons firing and leave you with sleepless nights. SCREAMBOX is investigating with the addition of several docs, all streaming now on the Bloody Disgusting-powered service. Here’s the breakdown:
