It has been over six years since Michael Keaton first declared his desire to return as the “Ghost with the most” in Beetlejuice 2, and unfortunately Tim Burton has decided he’s rather do garbage like Alice in Wonderland, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Sweeney Todd. While Warner Premiere at one time had hinted at continuing the franchise as a direct-to-disc series (much like they’re doing with Lost Boys), nothing has come to fruition. Earlier this year star Gena Davis said she’d love to return, and now Keaton has once again expressed interest. “Oh I’d do that in a heartbeat,” he told Moviehole at a junket for Toy Story 3, “that’s the one thing I’d love to do again.” Obviously a stars desire doesn’t equal any sort of progress, but it’s insane to me that WB hasn’t even made a renewed effort at this point. What do you guys think?
