Texas-Chainsaw-3D-Banner

Here it is, the official teaser poster for Lionsgate’s newly titled Texas Chainsaw 3D, which has been rated “R” by the MPAA for “strong, grisly violence and language throughout.

Texas Chainsaw 3D, in theaters January 4, 2013, is being directed by John Luessenhop from a screenplay by Adam Marcus, Debra Sullivan and Kirsten Elms. Dan Yeager, John Dugan, Bill Moseley, Alexandra Daddario, Sue Rock, Tania Raymonde, Scott Eastwood, Gunnar Hansen, Tobe Hooper, Paul Rae, Keram Malicki-Sánchez, Ritchie Montgomery, Trey Songz, Marilyn Burns, Shaun Sipos, Thom Barry and Richard Riehle star.

The seventh incarnation is a direct sequel to Tobe Hooper’s classic 1974 film that follows the lead character, Heather, who along with her friends, travel to Texas in order to collect an inheritance. The spin? What would you do if you found out your cousin was Leatherface, and he was now YOURS? Check out the poster and official synopsis below.

‘Texas Chainsaw 3D’continues the legendary story of the homicidal Sawyer family, picking up where Tobe Hooper’s 1974 horror classic left off in Newt, Texas, where for decades people went missing without a trace. The townspeople long suspected the Sawyer family, owners of a local barbeque pit, were somehow responsible. Their suspicions were finally confirmed one hot summer day when a young woman escaped the Sawyer house following the brutal murders of her four friends. Word around the small town quickly spread, and a vigilante mob of enraged locals surrounded the Sawyer stronghold, burning it to the ground and killing every last member of the family – or so they thought.

Decades later and hundreds of miles away from the original massacre, a young woman named Heather learns that she has inherited a Texas estate from a grandmother she never knew she had. After embarking on a road trip with friends to uncover her roots, she finds she is the sole owner of a lavish, isolated Victorian mansion. But her newfound wealth comes at a price as she stumbles upon a horror that awaits her in the mansion’s dank cellars…

Sick fucking poster! As much as I hated the most recent incarnation of the franchise, I’m kinda looking forward to this one. Wish they would have left “Massacre” in the title. “Texas Chainsaw” sounds… weird.

  • Lizard_Brain

Wont lie… kinda hard right now

  • Aaron Emery

Damn, I’m just getting more and more pumped for this, when it was first announced I didn’t think I was that interested.

  • flesheater24

No way in fuck this can suck right? That poster is dopetastic

  • djblack1313

FUCKING AWESOME!!!!!!! now THIS is a poster!

  • Taboo

This poster looks awesome! I just hope the movie itself is good and worth the wait.

I’m so pumped! Bad ass poster

  • russellg79

If I didn’t know they were making a new one, I would think that the did a 3-D re-release of the 2005 remake. Same shitty font they used too. Looks like I’m in the minority here but, I think the poster is weak.

  • russellg79

“Evil wears many faces” is a weak tagline as well. I know I’ll be first in line to see this, not because the Sawyer clan is evil, but because they are fucking nuts. Thats why the first movie is so powerful… you actually bought into the fact that these are deranged people.

  • shrednj

    please be awesome.

  • Skull-And-Crossbones

awesome poster! i hope the movie is awesome as well.

  • Joe-Banger

That is one bad ass-kick ass poster! It reminds me of my friend Seth Kelly’s SlipKnot t-shirt at the same time. (Seth plays guitar in King Snyder) I have to agree with russellg79 about the tagline, it was too easily put together. Oh and by the way russellg79, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake came out back in 2003. The 2005 film was a prequel to the other one before it.

  • Joe-Banger

No matter what I think Ill save up the money somehow to go see this at the over priced mall theatre. Hell even the local independent movie theatre got expensive but if they get this film I will definately go!

  • kilspencer

I know there’s no relation to the 2003 TCM, but I like that the face on the bottom left looks kind of like Jessica Biel.

    • Aaron Emery

Totally does look like Jessica Biel, I can’t believe I didn’t notice that before, as someone below mentioned the one next to her looks just like Franklin.

  • Zombie-Killa

I guess I’m in the minority of people, who actually enjoyed the 2003 remake. Although, The Beginning was pretty mediocre. That film provided more gruesome gore, but the story was just awful.

I’m looking forward to the 2013 remake, and this poster is just fantastic. But I hope they offer 2D versions of this film, because I can’t stand 3D.

    • EvilHead1981

Well, it’s not really a remake more than a Requel(Reboot Sequel; a sequel that acts as a reboot). It’s supposed to be a sequel to the ORIGINAL TCM. In a way, it’s similar to Halloween H20(which pretends Halloween 2-6 don’t exist and acts as the sequel to the original).

But, if you know anything about the original TCM canon(with the Sawyer family), you’d know that basically EVERY sequel has no connection to each other. The only title they all share as existing in their own continuities(spin off timelines) is the first TCM. TMC2, TCM3 and TCM:NG are all basically direct sequels to the first movie, and TC3D is similar to that. So, you basically have the first TCM as the hub and each sequel acts as a branching path from it into a new “what if” scenario timeline. By going by that, you COULD, technically, call this movie Texas Chainsaw Massacre V and it would be correct!

  • Canucklehead

I suggest that buying the blu ray of the original might be a better use of your time and hard earned money

  • Remember-Slithis

Looks cool! The top two middle masks look kind of like Micheal’s Masks in Zombies Halloweens.

  • DeathValzer

Awesome Slipknot styled poster. It’s sick. But why oh why are they calling it Texas Chainsaw 3D, sounds goofy. Should gone w/ Chainsaw Massacre at least or the original title; Leatherface. Can’t wait to see it tho.

  • eakinj

Is it just me or does the male face mask on the lower left next to the jar look like the fat guy who was in the wheel chair in the original? And it looks like grandpa on the second row far right. I wonder if that was meant to be a nod to those characters or if I’m just reading too much into it.

  • ThunderDragoon

This is an amazing poster! I love it so much. I have to say, I kind of like that they shortened the title. I always felt that the “Massacre” at the end was always misleading. Can’t wait for this.

  • djblack1313

ThunderDragoon, i feel the same. i like this shortened title.

  • http://thefilmpolice.blogspot.com/ Armand DC

It should be over-the-top. Have it lower than that key then sign me out. I CAN’T FUCKING WAIT EITHER GUYS. I’m excited with all-caps.

  • HallMy

I don’t know about anyone else, but doesn’t the middle mask lying on its side on the middle shelf look a lot like the mask that Leatherface wears on the poster for “Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation”?

    Maybe its just me.

    • hatter76

it’s not just you, I saw that, and immediately looked up that mask, even stiched in the same places

  • Joe-Banger

Why do some of you call them the sawyers? I thought their last name was hueitt. And Im also with you ThunderDragoon and djblack12313! The massacre part was always misleading as hell! So Im going to see this as a whole new film that is unrelated to the other so called Texas Chain Saw Massacre films.

    • hatter76

You mean Hewitt? that was in the Remake and it’s Prequel.

the Original didn’t even give a last name, the Sawyer name was given in the 2nd movie, and mentioned in the prologue of the 3rd.

    • zaglewiz

The Sawyers are the family from the first 2 and the Hueitts are from the remakes.

      • zaglewiz

        3*

  • hatter76

thats a more Elaborate take on the Pretty Woman mask from the end of the original movie, it’s funny to see people say it looks like Franklin, because When I was a kid, I used to think it was indeed Franklins face

  • Joe-Banger

@hatter76: Thanx for the correction. I forgot how to spell Hewitt before. Damn dislexia! I dont think “the family” even needs a last name at all. Whats the point? Pretty woman mask? Would you like to Elaborate on that? : )

    • hatter76

In general I don’t think the Family needed a name onscreen, I think it started with the 2nd movie, which was a legit Sequel to the first at the time it was made, and in many ways still is, despite the tone of part 2, it was intended to be set in the same univerese as the first film, and elaborate on the Chainsaw family, so within the context of that film, giving them a family name was understandable part of character development, and the name Sawyer stuck.
the 3rd and 4th movies i won’t mention, the remake of course is a differen’t story, but not one I’m going to touch upon either. for better or worse, This new film is intended to be a sequel only to the original.

the Pretty Woman mask I guess is the name thats been given to the mask that Leatherface wore during the last part of the original movie, which I’ve read was recreated for this movie

      • hatter76

my spelling is not that great either

  • Joe-Banger

Well thanks for the long explanation, I needed that. IMO: I was a english major from kindergarten all the way through high school but I still forget details from time to time. Texas Chain Saw is not remotely my favorite horror genra but Im very interested in seeing this one like I was when the remake came out back in 2003. I thought it was better than the original except that ending sucked! Leather face should have only been wounded not disarmed.

  • http://www.facebook.com/onalley Olivia Nalley

    This poster is wicked.

  • EvilHead1981

While “Massacre” WAS misleading in the original, given the few plot points we know about this *ahem*, I actually think using “Massacre” WOULD be appropriate in this case. I mean, if one of the scenes IS like it’s “said” to be, it WOULD generally count as a “massacre”.

And as for the surname, Sawyer, it just stuck. In the original canon(which all sequels are direct sequels to the first with no ties to each other), it became their canon name, even under Hooper’s watch(TCM2). And the name makes sense as a play on Leatherface’s weapons. I mean, SAWyer, priceless! I actually didn’t understand why they didn’t keep the name in the reboot. Why choose Hewitt? IMO, while it might not be as iconic as the standalone “Leatherface”, changing the surname would be like making a NOES reboot with the villain named “Freddy McIntyre” or a Ft13 with “Jason Sanderson”. WTF?!

  • Decapitated_Dave

I’m afraid that the awesome poster will increase my expectations of the movie and it will suck. I so hope I’m wrong.

  • MakeThisAMovies

This poster really is amazing. I love it incorporates the various masks seen throughout the franchise. I have my fingers crossed that this flick rocks.

Also, if you’re a Halloween fan – check out a petition I started to help bring Michael Myers back properly:

    Thanks Guys.

  • KC

I just went from 6 to midnight… then became ashamed and went back to 6.

  • ZombiesAteMyNeighbors

I really like this poster!! Gosh for real though I am hoping this movie is actually good. I just really would hate if they made this movie a bit too campy with the 3D thing and it ends up being more silly than a horror movie.

  • noNoNOOO

Nips got hard at the sight of this poster! More excited about this than the trailer scheduled to debut this Thursday! I pray that this rendition of Massacre will be substantially better than its predecessors.Oh and that’s another thing, instead of dropping the “Massacre” from Texas Chainsaw Massacre, they just should’ve dropped the Texas Chainsaw and called it MASSACRE! Only thing I’m not excited about is the 3D thing.

  • Mikehoe

If you know anything about the history of Texas Chain Saw, or even Silence of the Lambs the stories were inspired by the murders committed by Ed Gein, who looked normal, but was a ruthless killer. He gutted a woman and cut her face and skin off then wore it. Beneath it his face was normal, beneath his face his mind was a mess. I don’t think by seeing a small brief cut of his chin will do any harm. You have no idea what his eyes are like!

Looks aesthetically pretty awesome so far, which is what I loved about the 2003 remake.
