SMILEY_AshleyScreaming

Another “finally” this morning – we now have the trailer for director Michael Gallagher’s (“Totally Sketch”) Smiley. Beginning October 12, AMC will exclusively release the film theatrically through its AMC independent platform on 28 screens in 14 markets including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Houston and Atlanta. The release will also be supported by a marketing campaign from AMC.

The story of the film follows a mentally fragile college student named Ashley (Caitlin Gerard from “Magic Mike” and “The Social Network”) who, after learning of an urban legend in which a mysterious serial killer named “Smiley” can be summoned through the Internet, must decide whether she is losing her mind or becoming Smiley‘s next victim.Smiley also stars Melanie Papalia (“Endgame”) and Andrew James Allen (“Make It or Break It”), with Roger Bart (“Desperate Housewives”), Keith David (“The Thing”) and Liza Weil (“Scandal”) rounding out the cast.

Head inside for the trailer!

Smiley, co-written by YouTube sensation Gallagher and Glasgow Phillips (“South Park”), and produced by Michael Wormser (“Some Guy Who Kills People”) of Level 10 Films, has an enormous fan base to call on. The trailer has accumulated over 15 million views since its debut.

    wow this looks super corny

  • Radicalex

I was gonna say, I watched the trailer and the clip, and this seemed to strike a perfect balance between annoying and dopey.

This trailer has been online for months now actually. It was posted on YouTube a long time ago…but no biggy :)

I love the look of the killer. That is an AWESOME MASK! But I just can’t take someone called Smiley seriously. Most unthreatening name ever. The acting looks pretty mediocre and Shane Dawson gets on my nerves half the time (just not my kind of comedy to be honest).

But I’m a SUCKER for slasher films, so I’ll see it anyway…and I hope to be surprised :)

Well I’ll be seeing this when it goes to DVD

  • ThunderDragoon

The trailer has been available for a LONG time, guys. Almost a whole year actually. I’ve been wanting to see it since then. DVD it is because I’m not in, or even close to any, of the cities.

Im not sure of what to think, I need a professional opinion on this film. Where are you djblack1313?

  • Taboo

    This movie looks boring….

I think this trailer is slightly different than the other only in that it’s shorter and more to the point. I’ll check it out but…is it spose’ to be a comedy considering the talent behind? It certainly doesn’t look funny, at least not intentionally.

  • Zombie-Killa

Finally! One of these films are coming to my town, so I won’t have to wait for the DVD!

Smiley could be an ordinary slasher, but for some weird reason I’m expecting something good. Oh, and that is one creepy and disgusting pic.
