‘The Collection’ Website Teases New Artwork

Every great collector has a vision, and it will all be realized when The Collection, the sequel to Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton’s slasher The Collector, opens in theaters November 30th, 2012 (in what they’re calling the “real” Black Friday) from LD Entertainment. (We’re also hearing rumors that the film will World Premiere at Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas this September!)

The official website for the film isn’t completely active yet, but it does have some new imagery on the front page (which may or may not appear on the US poster).

When Elena’s (Emma Fitzpatrick) friends take her to a secret party at an undisclosed location, she never imagined she would become the latest victim of The Collector, a psychopathic killer. The Collector kidnaps and transports her to an abandoned hotel he’s transformed into his own private maze of torture and death. Upon learning of his daughter’s disappearance, Elena’s wealthy father (Christopher McDonald) hires a group of mercenaries to retrieve her from the vicious grips of The Collector. These mercenaries coerce Arkin (Josh Stewart), the only man to have escaped the wrath of this heinous monster, to lead them through thegruesome labyrinth. Now, Arkin finds himself fighting for his own life in order to save Elena.

The Collection, directed by Marcus Dunstan and written by Dunstan and Patrick Melton, stars Josh Stewart (The Dark Knight Rises), Emma Fitzpatrick (The Social Network), and Christopher McDonald (Requiem for a Dream).

Just saw The Collector for the first time recently. I dug it well enough to watch a sequel.

i hope people aren’t rooting for the Collector himself in these movies (like people were rooting for Jason Vorhees or Freddy Krueger). aren’t they supposedly going to make this a trilogy? if so that means the killer (most likely) won’t die in this 2nd film either which will piss me off. lol. i’m rooting for Arkin and i need/want the killer to get his comeuppance at some point (unlike in movies like WOLF CREEK).

I agree, but the first movie almost seemed like it was made so you’d root for the killer, just solely out of the fact they made the other characters(the family) so unlikable and stupid, they were basically fodder from any old run-of-the-mill slasher. When you include characters like that, it’s almost saying that you WANT the audience to loath them to the point that they ARE rooting for the killer to hack them to pieces.

EvilHead, very good point! lol. i forgot how gross most of the family was. i felt bad for the cat! lol. i REALLY hope they don’t kill Arkin off. i have a bad feeling that he’ll be killed off early in the movie and we’ll switch to some new protagonist. Josh’s Arkin is an awesome anti-hero and i’m rooting for him 100%.

  • What was up with the earlier reports that it was going to be 3D?

  • Super pumped on this movie. I loved the first one.
