Matt Reeves Tops A Stupid Long List Of Potential ‘Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes’ Directors

Earlier today Cloverfield and Let Me In director Matt Reeves exited Warner Bros.’ The Twilight Zone project. Now we may know why…

20th Century Fox has come up with a short list to replace Rupert Wyatt as the director of Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes. Deadline reports that Reeves is atop the list, along with The Disappearance Of Alice Creed helmer J Blakeson, 28 Weeks LaterJuan Carlos Fresnadillo, Crazy Heart and Mud director Jeff Nichols, Pacific Rim helmer Guillermo del Toro, The Impossible helmer Juan Antonio Bayona and Looper helmer Rian Johnson.

Those directors will be meeting with Fox production president Emma Watts to fill the plum post that Wyatt exited. Wyatt is said to have been uncomfortable about making the May 23, 2014 release date that the studio announced in May.

Wyatt did a really great job with Rise. If like to see him return, but there are a few names on here that I wouldn’t mine. Del Toro has far too much on his plate right now though.
