Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders is said to be circling Universal Pictures second attempt at Van Helsing, reports Twitch. The sides have “engaged in some early and still relatively casual conversations about Universal’s upcoming Van Helsing with the sides expressing a mutual interest in doing the project with one another,” says the site.

Uni recently announced a two-year first-look production deal with Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, and their K/O Paper Products banner. The duo will kick off their new relationship with Universal by reimagining titles from the studio’s library including Van Helsing and The Mummy remake, to be helmed by Len Wiseman.

Tom Cruise attached to star in and produce the new Helsing.

The titular character was inspired by the Dutch vampire hunter Abraham Van Helsing from Irish author Bram Stoker’s novel “Dracula.”

i enjoyed SNOW WHITE & THE HUNTSMAN so i’d be up for a VAN HELSING reboot (god awful movie. i LOVE Kate BEckinsale & even she was terrible in it which isn’t her fault, the script & fx were cringe-inducing). i didn’t know Cruise was set to star in it. i’m not really interested in this anymore (i don’t think). i’d rather them cast someone not so overexposed (people such as Julia Roberts, Tom Hanks, etc). any time Cruise is in a movie i’m watching it takes me out of the movie and i realize i’m watching Tom Cruise playing a character.

I also loved Snowwhite and the Huntsman but seriously more remakes. Can no one come up with original ideas anymore for movies, getting a little tired of all these remakes. And tom cruise in Van Helsing….really??

I wouldn’t mind Van Helsing if it was more closer to the Bram Stoker character than, well, the exercising of creative license that was the movie. Maybe something like a young Abraham Van Helsing encounting various vampiric evils and such.
