Just in time for our holiday, Halloween, it’s time to raise a glass and make a toast to the horror genre. Horror now owns the #1 spot on the small screen proving that it’s just as strong as ever!

AMC’s The Walking Dead is the highest-rated non-sports telecast among adults 18-49 on all of television this fall, reports Deadline.

The third season premiere on AMC’s zombie drama drew 7.3 million 18-49 viewers in Live+same day, with no carriage on major satcaster DISH no less. Un-freakin’-real!

When you’re partying hard this weekend, take a second to give thanks to the Halloween gods for giving us such an astounding treat. Have your say inside.

Hell yeah. Walking Dead kicks ass. I loved the second episode, Rick planting that machete in that dude’s skull just like Derek Mears did in the Friday remake. I love this show, and it definitely says something when even my sister (who hates anything even remotely scary or gory) is hooked on this show. Very happy to hear season 4 is confirmed. Rick and Darryl kick ass.

That’s really impressive! So proud at how far this show has come. I knew from them very beginning when I saw the trailers for season 1 that this would have potential to be a massive show and look! :)

That’s so awesome! I’m really happy.

VERY VERY much deserving. season 2 was very shaky/dodgy but this season rocks so hard! i’m just confused though, don’t other shows on major networks get ratings of much much higher than 7.3? so how can TWD be the #1 show on tv?

It’s the highest rated in the 18-49 demographic. That’s all networks care about. A show could have 20 million viewers but if the 18-49 demo is 2.0 million then it’ll probably get cancelled bc advertisers only buy spots on shows with high viewers in that demo.
