I’ll believe it when I see it, but Variety is reporting that Haley Bennett (The Hole, The Haunting of Molly Hartley) will topline Dimension Films’ long, long, long gestured Kristy, a psychological thriller to be helmed by Donkey Punch‘s Oliver Blackburn, with Anthony Jaswinski penning the most recent draft of the script by Scott Rosenberg and Gary Fielder.
Described as a Rosemary’s Baby type thriller, the story follows a girl who is alone on campus over the Thanksgiving break when a random encounter with a gang of violent outcasts leads them to target her as their next victim. To survive, she must conquer her deepest fears to outwit them and fight back. It’s also said to have elements of The Strangers.
It’s nice to see some casting news after watching several directors work their way through this project. Hopefully AFM brings them some solid movement.
