‘Paranormal Activity 5′ Gets A Release Date

Paranormal-Activity-4-banner

Paramount Pictures’ Paranormal Activity 4 hit theaters last month and underperformed somewhat financially (it raked in about half of what PA3 made domestically). The lesson? Paranormal Activity 5 better be good!! It’s been said that this series has the chance to follow the Star Trek pattern of every other film actually being worthwhile.

Paramount announced the new sequel just days after PA4 opened (the film was still quote profitable despite the dip in grosses). And now they’ve announced the date. October 25th, 2013. That’s it. We know nothing else about the film and will probably continue to know almost nothing about the film until about a month before it comes out (of course we’ll break scoops though).

How would you rank the entries in the Paranormal Activity franchise?

  • Yahauntas_LaQueen

I highly doubt this’ll perform any better than part 4. People are really getting burned out on these movies and its showing in the numbers.

  • WalkingDeadGuy

I get that this isn’t everybody’s cup of tea, but I enjoy them and I actually liked the fourth one as well. I would have liked to see……(spoiler alert)……..one of the witches at the end of the film pick up the camera to record Hunter actually sacrificing his sister. I think seeing a little blood would’ve been a nice change and kept the ending from being so similar the third films ending.

  • ThunderDragoon

How would I rank them? PA2, PA, PA4, PA3. I’m actually excited for the 5th entry. I’m also really curious about the Spanish spin-off.

  • Kroork

I hate them all. I thought they were all awful. The woman who plays Katie is one of the worst actors I have witnessed in recent years. Have never been scared or even close to it. I am very anti-activity. But that’s just my opinion. To each their own. Just give the some of us who want somthing a lil more hardcore what we want. I would love to see a hard ‘R ‘ gory found footage ghost story.

  • Aaron Emery

The worst part is that they won’t start filming until next August then they’ll just throw some shit together, call it a found footage film, and bank it.

    • djblack1313

Aaron, i was JUST going to say the same thing! LOL. i don’t bash anyone for liking these movies (Lord knows i enjoy some movies that are considered 100% garbage! LOL) but they just seem to wait until the last second, throw some footage together (that looks like my 10 year old nephew filmed) and then do the same things. it’s silence, silence, silence then….BAMM!!! jump scare. lather, rinse, repeat.

PA4 was one of the worst of the year for me. Simply terrible not scary gigantic plotholes and terrible acting (particularly by the parents). The mystery of the first activity has now dragged too much now and has ended up as a joke.

  • tgraci

Holy shit!!! so sick of this garbage…the sad part is there will probably be a part 6 7 8 9 10…etc

    GARBAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Jasonicus

4 really sucked. Was not scary and didn’t help the story along at all. Plot holes, too. This one better be fucking good.

  • Cozen

Djblack – jump scares are the only things that actually scare me. I think they’re fun. In the age of overstimulation, what really scares you? When I watch gore, it’s not to scare myself…I just enjoy the thought of filmmaking (gore).

    Haven’t seen PA4…but my rankings are PA1, PA3, PA2
You’ve seriously got to buy-in to these movies to enjoy. I understand both sides of the argument (for/against).

  • undertaker78

I refuse to watch anything titled: Paranormal Activity. I won’t complain about this series because quite frankly it doesn’t deserve my breath. I’m happy for those who enjoy being spoon-fed these movies every Halloween mind you.

I loved the original (before the terrible CGI ending), Poolcleaner (sorry, Paranormal) Activity 2 was alright and 3 was better, but 4 was horrendous. What really killed it for me was the awful attention to detail in 3… It would’ve been a simple and cheap but effective choice to obtain some genuine 80’s camera equipment for the sake of making it more immersive and believable. Oh, and did I mention how god awful 4 was? Oh yeah, I did.
