There’s a few cool new viral images out there from Texas Chainsaw 3D, which continues the legendary story of the homicidal Sawyer family, picking up where Tobe Hooper’s 1974 horror classic left off in Newt, Texas, where for decades people went missing without a trace.

Included are a newspaper clipping that ties the events of the first film to this sequel, a belated Thanksgiving greeting from the Sawyer Family and a simulated artist’s rendering of some gloves that Ed Gein – the real-life serial killer inspiration behind Leatherface – fashioned out of human skin. There’s also a look at an apparently forbidden evidence box.

In theaters January 4, 2013, the slasher is being directed by John Luessenhop from a screenplay by Adam Marcus, Debra Sullivan and Kirsten Elms. Dan Yeager, John Dugan, Bill Moseley, Alexandra Daddario, Sue Rock, Tania Raymonde, Scott Eastwood, Gunnar Hansen, Tobe Hooper, Paul Rae, Keram Malicki-Sánchez, Ritchie Montgomery, Trey Songz, Marilyn Burns, Shaun Sipos, Thom Barry and Richard Riehle star. It’s been rated “R” by the MPAA for “strong, grisly violence and language throughout.

Head inside to take a look!

The seventh incarnation taps into Hooper’s classic 1974 film that follows the lead character, Heather, who along with her friends, travel to Texas in order to collect an inheritance. The spin? What would you do if you found out your cousin was Leatherface, and he was now YOURS?

‘Texas Chainsaw 3D’continues the legendary story of the homicidal Sawyer family, picking up where Tobe Hooper’s 1974 horror classic left off in Newt, Texas, where for decades people went missing without a trace. The townspeople long suspected the Sawyer family, owners of a local barbeque pit, were somehow responsible. Their suspicions were finally confirmed one hot summer day when a young woman escaped the Sawyer house following the brutal murders of her four friends. Word around the small town quickly spread, and a vigilante mob of enraged locals surrounded the Sawyer stronghold, burning it to the ground and killing every last member of the family – or so they thought.

Decades later and hundreds of miles away from the original massacre, a young woman named Heather learns that she has inherited a Texas estate from a grandmother she never knew she had. After embarking on a road trip with friends to uncover her roots, she finds she is the sole owner of a lavish, isolated Victorian mansion. But her newfound wealth comes at a price as she stumbles upon a horror that awaits her in the mansion’s dank cellars…

Hmmm still not convinced on this one, sequels that ignore other sequels because they think they can do better never do. Also is leather face part-time photographer for the newspaper?

so ready for this! only concern is it bein a summer movie being released in the middle of dead winter

    • ChelseaGoneAwry

Personally, my favorite time of year to watch horror movies IS the dead of winter! Lights out, warms blankets, and instead of popping in a Christmas movie I pop in the scariest flick I can find and settle in for a night of gore!

      Ahh, the holidays.

Really excited for this! Could’ve been worse. They could’ve put it in February, which is like the worst month for movies.
