I know what you’re thinking, “this looks pleasant enough!” True, but Martin McDonagh’s film is perhaps the most bloody drama in recent memory. Multiple murders – including exploding heads – litter its landscape. But none more cringe inducing than what happens just moments after that lovely still above. Brendan Gleeson’s Ken takes a dive from that clocktower and splatters all over the street below. To add insult to (severe) injury, he’s still quite alive after the impact and delivers a touching goodbye speech despite the fact that he’s semi-liquefied and several of his appendages are now about 10 yards away from his torso.
