Summit Meets ‘Breed’ Of Bloodthirsty Savages

Summit Entertainment is looking to Breed, acquiring feature rights to Chase Novak‘s horror novel and tapping Burr Steers (Charlie St. Cloud, 17 Again) to write and direct with David Heyman and Jeffrey Clifford of Heyday Films producing, reports Variety.

“Breed,” published in September, “follows a couple who undergo an experimental fertility treatment that turns them into bloodthirsty savages, leading them on a desperate quest to find a cure.

Mulholland Books ordered a sequel novel from Novak — a pseudonym used by novelist Scott Spencer — to follow “Breed” before it was published.

Spencer has written 11 novels including two that were adapted into movies — 1981’s “Endless Love” and 1991’s “Waking the Dead.”
