5 Great Lines From Horror Movies!
What many people forget is that there are some fantastic lines in horror movies, ones that set the tone of the movie or add that deliciously creepy element that we crave. These are lines that stick with us forever, the ones that we can’t wait to hear and say along with the character. These are the lines we post as our Facebook status update, the ones that we Tweet to see who knows what we’re talking about.
So I gathered five lines that I absolutely love hearing in horror movies that I wanted to share with you below. And if you have some favorites, make sure to leave them in the comments section! I’d love to hear what lines tingle your spines!
“I live in the weak and the wounded, Doc.” – Session 9
Okay, so there’s some bias here. I absolutely LOVE this movie. I consider it to be the closest thing to The Shining out there. And when Simon utters this line at the very end of the movie, it is one of the most spine-shivering moments I’ve ever had.
“I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti. FfFfFfFfFf!” – Silence Of The Lambs
Everything that built up to Hannibal Lecter’s first appearance in Silence Of The Lambs made him out to be a terrifying, insane individual, one that would send many of us crawling under the blankets, terrified knowing that people like him actually exist. But in all actuality, he seemed quite charming and delightful. Well, that is until he described one of his meals. This was the point when you knew that he was truly and utterly insane.
“What’s your favorite scary movie?” – Scream
What we have here is such an innocuous and obvious line that it never crossed my mind how sinister and evil it could sound. That is, it never crossed my mind until Ghostface hisses it to Drew Barrymore. From that moment on, that question has never been the same.
“Get away from her, you BITCH!” – Aliens
When the Queen Alien is trying to find Newt underneath the floor, it’s a terrifying moment where we actually feel fear for this child who has made it through so much only to be facing death. The music is heightening and tense when, suddenly, everything comes to a pause as the bay doors open and Sigourney Weaver comes stomping out in one of the loader unit suits. When she utters this famous line, it’s one of those moments that makes me want to erupt in applause and cheers.
“This, is God!” – A Nightmare On Elm St.
Freddy Krueger has a HOARD of fantastic lines ranging from serious to comedic but it’s this line, said to Tina near the beginning of ANOES1, that truly terrified me. In the dream world, Krueger is in charge, no matter what. He is God and he has complete control while you sleep. It is here that he lays the foundation for how powerful he is and will be throughout the series.

“We’ll tear your soul apart.” – Pinhead in Hellraiser. There are literally 20 amazing quotes from him in the first 2 movies. But this is the standout sentence for me.

Old classic movies should have made the top of the list. Jaws is right up there. The Shining’s “Here’s Johnny!” should be at the top as well!

First time I saw the end of the movie with this line followed up by Loomis looking over the balcony to see Michael is gone, it sent a chill down my spine.
Excellent choice.
The music makes the movie. Notice when Loomis does look over the balcony and the next shot is of the ground with no Micheal there, is when the music starts again!

It’s actually a bit strange. I first heard the line in the TV commercial and then remembered it when I saw the Fly a few years later.

This is the best list of lines I thought you were going to use “Whatever you do, don’t fall asleep” from A Nightmare On Elm Street but the line you did use is one of my favourite lines of all time, my favourite being “What’s your favourite scary movie?”
My favorite line would be “Whatever you do, don’t fall asleep” from ANOES1. It just sums up the franchise and is recognized by horror and non horror fans alike.

Anyone remember the late great Brion James from the botched House 3 that came out in the US as The Horror Show? Lance Henriksen gives a bad ass performance in that movie. Anyways, Brion James, as Max Jenke has some really good lines in this movie. Like “BACK THE FUCK OFF, BITCH”! Or while he’s being electrocuted in prison as Lucas (Lance) watches, “Lucas, I’m coming back to tear your world apart… I’m going to fuck you up”. Movie gets compared to Cravens Shocker but I like The Horror Show better. Geek note: The director James Isaac, also directed Jason X.

The first time hearing the laugh from Predator is a pretty creepy moment.

Best part is at the very, very end of the movie when you see that he is in the picture at the hotel a long time ago. Gives you goose bumps! It kinda reminds me of the song Hotel California where you can check out, but never leave!
