Quake In Fear Of The Trailer For Eli Roth’s ‘Aftershock’!

After premiering to the Midnight Madness crowd at the TIFF this past September, Dimension Films acquired Aftershock, the Eli-Roth produced horror thriller directed by Nicolas Lopez.

Lopez hails from Chile, and the film is set during the aftermath of the February 27, 2010 Chilean earthquake that hit 8.8 on the Richter scale, created a tsunami and claimed the lives of more than 480 in one terrifying event.

IGN has landed the film’s first ever trailer.

In Chile, an American tourist’s vacation goes from good to great when he meets some beautiful women travellers. But when an earthquake ravages the underground nightclub they are in, a fun night quickly turns to terror. Escaping to the surface is just the beginning as they face the nightmarish chaos above ground.” Eli Roth, Selena Gomez, Ariel Levy, Nicolas Martinez, Lorenza Izzo, Natasha Yarovenko, Andrea Osvart and Miguel Asensio all star.

Roth also produced The Last Exorcism released through Lionsgate. Its sequel hits theaters in 2013 via Open Road.

Is this made for the SyFy Channel?

  • Lionel-Cosgrove

Funny how Eli Roth disappears after the opening sequences of the film. I wonder what becomes of his character?

  • Zombie-Killa

Awesome, and the ending to this trailer is sick! Definitely gonna give this a chance when it comes to DVD, because I honestly can’t picture a significant limited release for this film.

  • flesheater24

looks decent. I’ll check it out on DVD

So many opportunities for gratuitous violence. Doesn’t look much like a ‘thinker’ flick.

  • djblack1313

how is this “Eli Roth’s AFTERSHOCK”? you guys do the same thing with “Eli Roth’s CLOWN” (or whatever that’s called). lol. but yeah, this looks like a SyFy Channel quality flick (not a compliment. lol).

  • Canucklehead

What kind of Earthquake film is it without Charlton Heston or George Kennedy? A damn poor one.

  • menoch

The biggest problem i have with this and many other trailers is unless it is a big blockbuster film they always seem to use the same type of cheesy, crappy, cheap music which, as Grime above said, makes it sound like a SyFy produced film! Bad music can kill a good film!

I think this looks really good but it also looks cheesy…

  • Ravinus

HardGORE porn. I’m in. I can only hope they take it easy on the CGI gore though.

  • Hicks

The opening scene in the car looks very cheesy, frankly badly acted by Eli Roth and didn’t do anything to change my very negative view of him and then the film looked very generic with the kids partying. Only when the earthquake hit in the trailer did it turn remotely interesting.

In fact id say one of the best tings in the trailer is the Richter scale titles. Very creative, especially in contrast to Eli’s style of filmmmaking.

I for one am pretty excited about this. Should be a fun watch!

  • I caught this at Fantastic Fest and had mixed feelings about it. I do not think Eli Roth is a good actor. I love him as a director though.
The film was fun to watch but probably not something I’d see again.

  • Trioxin83

I’ll watch this for the same reason I watch Howling 3: The Marsupials

  • XMarkX

Not sure what to think yet, honestly. I’ll still probably go see it.
