Take A Wet Ride With ‘Riddick’ In This New Still

Riddick_Banner_1_21_13

Universal Pictures’ Riddick reteams Pitch Black director David Twohy with star Vin Diesel as the title character of the sci-fi trilogy. And, as is his routine at this point, Diesel has released a new still from the film himself.

In it, “Diesel reprises his role as the antihero Riddick, a dangerous, escaped convict wanted by every bounty hunter in the known galaxy. The infamous Riddick has been left for dead on a sun-scorched planet that appears to be lifeless. Soon, however, he finds himself fighting for survival against alien predators more lethal than any human he’s encountered. The only way off is for Riddick to activate an emergency beacon and alert mercenaries who rapidly descend to the planet in search of their bounty.

The first ship to arrive carries a new breed of merc, more lethal and violent, while the second is captained by a man whose pursuit of Riddick is more personal. With time running out and a storm on the horizon that no one could survive, his hunters won’t leave the planet without Riddick’s head as their trophy.

Head inside for a better look. Riddick hits theaters on September 6th, 2013.

Just got done watching Pitch Black again, and I’m really looking forward to this one. Vin diesels character hype’s me up every time I watch anyone of this series thus far.

Ahhhhh movies. Thats one thing I like about them. So many to choose from that you’re bound to find one that you love and motivates you in one way or another. Then again, unless someone’s got a gun to your head forcing you to watch films which you hate, but somehow you escaped. So actually, I take that back. I’ll say thats a plus. Hopefully you’re now damaged goods mentally and can write everything that happened verbatim into a movie. I’m already in my head ready to buy that ticket.

I’ve never cared for these movies but i’ll give this one a chance, especially for the awesome cast, Bautista, Woodbine & Jori Molla; awesome villain actor.

  • Zombie-Killa

Dave Bautista as in Batista the former WWE wrestler? Oh no, that guy is a TERRIBLE actor. He was horrible in The Man With The Iron Fists, and his statuesque physique plays a big part in him receiving so many roles, because he’s nothing without the muscles. Well, maybe with exception of him portraying a bad guy towards the end of his WWE run, but that’s another story for another time.

    **rant over**

Anyway, looking forward to Riddick. Cool pick, and I’ve been DYING to see this film for years now.

AWESOME!! i love PITCH BLACK (i never liked or finished watching the other other Riddick movies) and i’m thrilled this movie is going to be like that one. this pic is great and very atmospheric! i can’t wait to see the creatures (and awesome Katee Sackhoff)!!

Please watch both, but maybe on different nights so that you can soak up the different flavors.

Whoops that was meant for Aaron Emery.

Confession: I own PITCH BLACK and CHRONICLES and have never watched them. Do I want to?? Help!

    • djblack1313

Aaron, most definitely at least watch PITCH BLACK. it has awesome monsters/creatures and is survival type movie. the other movie looked terrible to me and i’ve never watched it as well! but yeah, PB is most definitely worth watching. it’s sorta like 30 DAYS OF NIGHT in that the creatures only can come out when there’s no sun/daylight and Riddick (& Radha Mitchell) & company crash on a planet about to go into total darkness for a month or 2!!! it’s very cool!

Mmkay I’ll take your word for it! Guess that’s what I’m doing tonight! I saw trailers for both and I thought the sequel looked like a completely different genre, almost like a low-rate scifi/adventure flick.

        • djblack1313

Aaron, whenever you watch it, come back to this article/page and let me know what you thought! i think you’ll like it and i agree 10000 the 2 movies look like they aren’t even remotely related. lol.

I really liked it! Even though the majority takes place outside in the open it still has the claustrophobic feeling the I love in horror movies! Also, the creature design was pretty cool and shown only when necessary (the effects weren’t anything special). Maybe it’s because I saw MAMA yesterday which had the absolute worst CGI I’ve seen in a long time, like I would say worse than THE THING 2011 only because it was CGI faces on humans rather than any effort.
Sorry for the MAMA spew! Thanks for recommending ’cause I probably would have watched it otherwise.
I suppose I’ll give the second one a shot at some point only because I now want to see Riddick. THANK YOOOUUU!! :)

Aaron AWESOME!!! i knew you would like it!!!

I liked Pitch Black, alot. I’m not a Vin Diesal fan by any means…he couldn’t act his way out of a box. But he plays a good meathead/badass. Chronicles of Riddick, I wanted to like it…conceptually it was interesting. But they tried way to hard to make it a sweeping scifi epic instead of keeping it small and intimate which is part of what made Pitch Black great. This new film sounds closer in flavor to PB, so for that I’ll for sure give it a shot.

You know I used to think the same thing about him and then I saw “Find Me Guilty” and that changed my mind. I loved Pitch Black, one of my favorite horror movies to date, and Chronicles of Riddick wasn’t great but it wasn’t a movie I’d never watch again.
